Hey guys, I don't know much about computers, so that's why I'm posting here looking for advice. So I'm getting a new computer and looking for a good motherboard, I have narrowed it down to either one of these motherboards:

MSI H97 GAMING 3

ASUS H97-PLUS

My main concern is the durability, I need some information about how much approximately each of these will last before it craps on me. Thank you.

I would say choose between the most features that concern you and colour is another thing to concider.

All been said, I would go with Asus because of their great costumer support.

If you're concerned with durability then go with Asus. They make great motherboards.

Hello.

I would personally go with ASUS too like @insane_metalist and @PredatorRules said.

But my 12 years old MSI 865PE Neo2-FIS2R motherboard that still works says hello. :P

So... In the end I think that you can't really go wrong with either of these two.

I've owned both MSI and ASUS boards. Never had any issues with ASUS (my current board is ASUS), but I had multiple issues with MSI boards (including 2 RMAs).

Go with ASUS.

Thank you everyone for replying. Another thing I wanted to know: I've seen some people complain about their MSI motherboard dying after 3 years, and some people who work themselves with fixing computers said that they rarely get to fix Asus motherboards but they get a lot of computers with crapped MSI motherboard. I still don't know which should I get, need some more responses. Thank you.

Asus for motherboards. But MSI for graphics cards. Also your not looking at overclocking? Just asking because if you are then you are better off looking at the Z series boards.

@digitm64: Not looking for over clocking, just looking for a durable one and as I said it's either gonna be Asus or MSI H97.

Uh get a z97 chipset any day over another. They are the largest feature rich of Intel motherboards on top of being overclockable. Furthermore read actual reviews of said motherboards instead of anecdotal stories in which you can bring up dirt from any motherboard supplier because a person had an awful experience one time with a product of theirs.

.. What do you mean by "durable"? Because all the motherboards out there have been tested for stock speeds.. "durability" only comes into question on whether your going to overclock it and up voltages in pushing it to the limits.. Based on that just read reviews on all the major board companies for the specific boards on their reliability.. Because in the end of the day if your not going to use it for advanced features, your not going to notice a difference either way.

It really comes down to features and price. Both brands are below 2% for defective boards so really that isnt a problem http://www.hardware.fr/articles/911-2/cartes-meres.html article is in french and is a bit old ( 2013 )but you get the indication how good big MB vendors are

@murderousoverclockable = longer use, seriously get a mobo with either a Z87 or Z97 chipset, heck get one with a Z77 chipset (Ivy-bridge is still an awesome CPU) I wouldn't get either of those mobos if I were you.

The MSI z87 micro atx gaming board is under $90 as a good option.

@sSubZerOo: Not a bad find, the con though is that micro atx doesn't leave much room for expansions, still better than what OP is choosing between.

Honestly 99% of the people out there would do fine with a micro atx now.. The radical majority of people are never going to use a set up with sli greater than 2 cards.. And the very same people will probably never going to use a PCI express SSD any time soon.. That and the board MSata ssd options as well. Micro atx and ITX boards have come along way to the point that the majority of the time all a ATX board offers is a few more PCI slots in less your getting a top tier enthusiast board.

I have ASRock which is a subsidiary of ASUS and it has survived through numerous attempts at overclocking GPU/CPU which resulted in my Gaming PC shutting down and it hasn't fried and always booted up. It's been going for 6+ years, so I would go with Asus.

I like Asus. But make a system restore point before installing their software. Last time i installed asus software was a few years ago and it caused some really buggy things to start happening in windows and some conflicts with other programs. Maybe its not as bad now but use with caution.
