Hey, installed Mass Effect just now. Everything installed perfectly but I have a problem...

I click the game to run, the Launcher shows up, I click play. After that the launcher closes and the Mass Effect logo shows up for like 3-4 seconds, then it dissappears and nothing else happens... help please

First give it some time, give it about five minutes just to be sure that its not taking extra long for the first time. If that doesn't work then reinstall it

Could be the anti-piracy rubbish, are you running any clone driver programs? Another trick could be closing down other programs, like those running in the background. Yes you shouldn't have to do this to get a game to run, but it might help.

I dont have any pirate-related programs on my pc

ok thx I will try re-installing...

edit: I've tried running it again before re-install, there is no need to give it 5 minutes, I've run it with taskmgr open... ''MassEffect.exe'' closes after the logo dissappears...

Will try to reinstall now.

If it's on Vista try right click > run as administrator. I normally do that with Mass Effect as it seemed to crash or take ages to load when I double clicked it.

how long did you wait? it takes quite a long time for the game to get going on my rig (about a minute or so (perhaps even longer)).

I waited quite a while for the first time.. but as I already said it was pointless because the game closes, I can see how it closes in the taskmgr so there is nothing to wait for :(

mmk here's my pc...

Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
2048MB RAM
RADEON X800 Series 512mb
200 GB Disk
Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2

The Mass Effect Configurator program automaticly sets everything on high details so I dont think my pc is a problem...

It would appear that your graphics card doesn't have shader model 3.0 support, which Mass Effect requires.

It looks like you will need to get a new graphics card to play it.:(

I would recommend that you search Pentium D in the hardware forum to see what other people have recommended with a similar set up, like this.

These are the recommended requirements for Mass Effect:

NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX or higher.
ATI X1800 XL series or higher

These are the minimum requirements:

NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or better (7300, 7600 GS, 8400 GS, and 8500 are below minimum system requirements)
ATI X1300 XT or better (X1300, X1300 Pro, *X1600 Pro*, HD2400, and *HD2600* are below minimum system requirements)

Just make sure the interface for the card matches your motherboard (AGP, PCI-E etc.) and that your power supply is sufficient.
