I just bought a viewsonic vx922 as a replacement for my 4 year old Sony LCD with a 30ms time. This viewsonic is a 19inch with 2ms, I would assume it would be faster, but it isn't. I tried playing battlefield 2142 on the new monitor at 1200x1000 and i only got 40-50fps, as opposed to the 60-70fps i got on my old monitor. I installed the new drivers and everything but I still get low fps, anyone know why?

A different monitor should not have that kind of effect unless you have Vsync on and the new monitor has a lower refresh rate than the previous monitor.

well Im not sure then... if your new monitor has a better refresh rate then it 'should' be faster. What are you using to get the fps rating... an ingame thing or are you using fraps?

why in the world do people continue to buy LE cards? People need to get educated. Until crap is not being bought anymore it will continue to be made.

there is no posible way for a monitor to affect fps besides changing the res. Dont call the company stupid just beause its your pc thats screwing it.The most likely cause is that the card is overheating Did you change anything in your case or install anything new when you install that monitor?

well, maybe it is my hardware, because i changed my old monitor back, and my fps dropped also. from 70 to 50 now. i called them stupid because they didn't even know what frame rates meant, but yeah, now i have a even bigger problem. i haven't touched any settings or moved anything. all i did was plug in new monitor, then i got bad fps. i just changed back to my old monitor now, and i'm still getting bad fps. what is going on here?

Hard to say - I would take a guess that your video card is having some sort of problem though. Double-check your PCI-e power connector and make sure it's fully seated, also make sure that the video card is as well. Also check the settings of your card in Nvidia's control panel or whatever program you use - it's possible that your video card isn't clocking itself all the way up during gaming sessions, although that doesn't sound very likely. Still, it's free to check.

why would you blame the problem on the monitor?  first of all the monitor has 2ms which wont effect fps.  its going to give you a faster response time, closer to a crt.

second, if i called viewsonic or any other monitor company i wouldnt expect them to know what fps is anyways.  i would be upset if they didnt know what res or contrast ratio was.  not all people game.

if u want the best response time from a monitor get a crt.  if you want the best picture get a lcd.  so far, there are few in betweens.  the viewsonic with 2ms is one of the few.  and its a darn good monitor.
