Yes

Yes, video games are priced at 60$ each because they want to prevent people from buying them so that only the extreme fanbois will populate the servers.

Seriously, though. Games today are very cheap compared to the old days. It wasn't uncommon for a SNES game to be 75$. Keep in mind the inflation rate. That would be somewhere over 100$ at todays rate. Consider that only blockbuster titles are 60$, while most smaller studios publish games in the 20$ to 40$ range.

Video games take a lot of time and effort to make. If it's a multiplayer game they might also have to pay for servers.

PC games are generally cheaper than console games. Try Terraria or FTL on for size.

And yes, it is hard to make games. More succinctly, it's hard to market games.

this. and they were much cheaper to make back in those days.

SNES game avg. cost: $300 000

Xbox 360 game avg. cost: $15 000 000

They are priced high because publishers are greedy fucks who will take you for a ride whenever humanly possible.

What's funny about that? I remember paying $79 plus tax for Final Fantasy 3. Lots of games were at different prices too, unlike how all games are $60 (outside of small games and little exceptions) now.
