is a 680M really worth $800+ more?

I've been looking at gaming lappies, cause I want something a little more dedicated to gaming than running Windows through bootcamp on my Macbook Pro and they have Asus ones with the 3GB 670m for $1250 and if I want something with a 680m, the price jumps to around 2 grand.  What happened to the 675m?  Isn't there a happy medium somewhere?

Not worth $800 more definetly, maybe like a $100 or $200 max.

Heck no, Alli. I would just get the 670m and be happy with that. It should be $100-200 more like GTR12 said, $200 max.

If you don't mind waiting the 700 series just got announced, no idea how long it'll take before they're actually in laptops and on sale though, but I wouldn't have thought it would be too long.

yeah I've seen some laptops on newegg's site being advertised with the 730m already. Just wasn't terribly sure about performance in relation to the 670.

I don't know.  If I can do without all of MSI's bells and whistles, this one comes with a 4GB 730m and is significantly cheaper.

670M is much faster than 730M.

A 730m definitely won't be anywhere near 670 performance, I'd wait for some more high end 700 series laptops to come out (anything with a 760m upwards) and even if they're too expensive it might knock a few prices down for the laptops with the 600 series cards in them.

well the 7970m is faster than the 680m.  It did have some driver issues earlier in 2012 but it should be fixed by now.  The cons against it are higher power consumption and heat compared to the 680m.  The advantages for it is the $200 smaller price tag and the better performance.  Problem is that sagernotebooks.com is backordered so you might have to wait like 2 weeks to get it.  The cost for the laptop is around $1500, and imo that is ridiculous, a laptop should never cost that much $$.

thats a ridiculous price for a laptop....$2000 daamn.  Unless you're rich just get a sweet desktop and a cheaper laptop for basic gaming.
