From Guru3D:

Intel Core i7-5960X De-Lidded Haswell-E Uses Soldered TIM

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 07/29/2014 10:21 AM | Source

For its most powerful Haswell-E based processors Intel will use Soldered TIM based on a strong epoxy. OCDrift discovered that when they removed (read forced off) the heatspreader. Beneath the adhesive layer that secure the IHS to the package, Intel soldered the chip’s die to the IHS with a strong epoxy.

As OCDrift reports; this is a good news for overclockers, simply because soldering the CPU die to the IHS allows for much better heat conductivity than if the gap was to be filled with thermal interface material (TIM) like we’ve seen on the Core i7-3770K, 4770K, and 4790K.

Haswell-E is expected to be released in September 2014, and the rumoured specifications suggested that the top model namely the Core i7-5960X will have 8 cores, 16 threads and clocked at 3.0GHz with a 3.3GHz Turbo peak.

Now the question begs, who the heck did they get that processor from ? :)

ps: A lot of people want to know more information about this CPU and these are definitely good news :)

Whats the point in upgrading CPU when games are getting downgraded more often including Farcry 4. Just seen a news item saying that Farcry 4 will have same graphics on consoles as PC settings on ultra there for that means another downgraded game.

That's because Ubisoft is not a PC publisher, they are a console publisher.

For them the PC version will always come behind in priority compared to the console version. Even Watch_dogs, which supposedly had PC as lead platform, was far from a good PC version.

Other multiplats, like The Witcher 3 or Project CARS do care about the PC version and you'll games like these make real use of your hardware ;)

edit: also, they said Watch_dogs maxed out on PC was the same as the PS4 version, which was not the case. The PC version did look better.

hyped up to see how bad it can get lol.

Ubisoft: At first we managed to make the game this way so the consoles will have ULTRA settings like top end PCs.

Ubisoft: Far Cry 4 on PS4, Xbox One Equivalent to PC Ultra High

Ubisoft: And thats before we will cripple the PC Version. :P

You need a very fast cpu if you want to play all games at 144fps+ on a 144hz display.
