Hello everyone, I've had a pretty awesome gaming laptop that's done everything I've needed it to, but now I want to buy a real gaming PC.

I don't know much about PC's, besides really basic stuff. I've never built a computer and it's pretty daunting to me. I've looked at NewEgg and iBuyPower and I can't be completely satisfied with the computer I create due to the price. I've heard building a computer is a lot cheaper than getting a premade one. My budget is 1,300-1,700. I want to get the new GTX 970 incorporated into the build. I appreciate any and all help, but what I'm looking for is a list of stuff that I can/ should buy for the best bang for my buck. I'm going to use this computer for gaming, video editing, and in game video recording. Thank you.

@04dcarraher: Thanks for the reply. Hey I heard that some site will put everything together for me for $50, I've never put a computer together so I'd get a huge amount of anxiety doing so.

With 1700 budget you could SLI 2x 970.

@PredatorRules: Ah, thank you. I didn't want to click his links.

Hey what's the benefit of having 2 SLI 970's? Isn't that just a huge overkill?

all depends if you plan on doing 4k resolution or multi-monitor resolutions

It's no always the case but yes, I do agree that's the only way to play 4K at 60fps is by 2 top end tier GPUs.

The other case is future proof and not suffering from poor ports.

@PredatorRules: Ah, thanks for clarifying. If I didn't have a monitor, or keyboard, and wanted to game on 1920 by 1080, or whatever the damn thing is, what would be a way to do this and stay in budget?

If you'd wanted to game on 4K and stay in budget take my link for parts as I suggest before above.

Not sure what you're asking here, but if you'd want to game on 1080p you can take the same build that I suggested and just remove 1 GPU.
