I'm not sure if I've skimped on anything - I'm sure I have - but if anyone could help me make this build more efficient it would be greatly appreciated. It will be used primarily for 3ds Max, ZBrush, UDK, Photoshop and gaming, of course. How does it fair right now?

I would also like to keep around the $1300 mark, but I may be able to add around $100-150. Thanks!

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3kGr7 not sure how much do you need a 130$ MOBO, do you plan on SLI on the near future?

Also do you really need the optical drive? there's almost no use to it these days.

Use a corsair tx version not the cx one for the psu. 650 W would be good.

164$ worth of ram is crazy. You better buy 8 gb (2 x4 gb it's dual channel)

lose the ssd and with the money you saved on the ram too you have enough to buy a Asus direct cu II gtx 780.

Or just keep the ssd and the gtx 770 and save some money on the ram. Ssd's are nice, but a gtx 780 will be nicer. 16 gb is only needed for server application or virtual systems. For gaming or normal software 8 gb is more than enough, I never even use more than 4 gb when gaming.

Okay, here goes. The processor looks good, but if you don't plan on overclocking it, I'd go with a 4770S for 300 instead and I think you should get a cheaper motherboard for sure, unless you plan on adding a second card down the road, but if you're not, try to find a cheaper motherboard like the ASRock Z87 Extreme3 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 at 114.

I wouldn't get the SSD. In fact, if you want to spend the money saved by going a little cheaper on the motherboard and processor and ditching the SSD, you can get two WD 250GB Velociraptors and run them in a RAID 0 configuration for reasonably fast performance and no worry about SSD management while still getting 500GB total capacity with fast burst speeds and no degradation like SSDs will inevitably get. You can always get a massive secondary drive later if you want to, or simply get an external and backup the things that no longer fit on the 500GB raid array.

I would also strongly recommend ditching that 16gb ram kit and go with Kingston Beast 2400mhz ram at 8GB for about 80 dollars.

With the money saved on that you get a good quality 80 plus gold PSU like the SeaSonic SSR-650RM which is 80 dollars and semi modular and if you care it is Haswell-Ready.

Optical drive is okay, you could get a blu-ray drive from Asus for 60 if you want to ever use bluray, but otherwise that drive is fine.

The GPU I would get would be a 4GB (for gpu memory intensive things like game mods) 760 for 280 or the 2gb zotac variant for 240 but if you want to spend more on the 770, that's up to you, doesn't look like a major performance gap between the two.

I hope my input has helped somewhat.

Oh but with that kinda of money , I would choose an asus motherboard. Msi for the gtx 780 is defendable though but that directcu II is still better.

and why the sudden change in cooling, I wouldn't start overclocking immediately. That won't be needed
