yep, albeit with Lower Settings, on lower resolutions. if you aren't going to build your PC in the next 2 weeks, i would hold out for the r600 series from ATi, or the mid range 8600/8300 from Nvidia

i could wait im in no hurry
#53 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
then wait til Mid-March, and the R600 XTX and XT comes out. Also, the 8600 Ultra/Gt and the 8300 GT/GS are coming out. You might want to look into the r600 XT and the 8600Ultra. The r600 XT is, on paper, more powerful than the 8800GTX, and the 8600 Ultra should be around the 7950GT/7900GTO level, but with a much lower price tag, ($179 sound nice to you?)

#55 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
will they be expensive?

yes

r600XTX/ XT very much yes, but it is also very much powerful. 8600 series, on paper, is a very very attractive deal at only 179 for the ultra model. =D

have you installed vista ? does it run games better or worse ,because i read gamespots feature doesnt look better

wow but is it better than any on the market?
#60 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
the r600 will blow any card out of the water, but heres the catch. the XTX model is a full 12 inches long, and requires 240 watts of power. Your probably going to have to get at least a 600W PSU to run one, let alone two. The 8600 Ultra should compare well with the High end of the 7900 Series.
edit: to show you how powerful the r600 is, let me tell you the specs, it has a 750MHz core clock/ 2200MHz memory clock, 1 GB of GDDR4 memory, and a 512bit bus. The 8800GTX has a 600 core clock/1600 memory, 768MB of GDDR3 memory.

um, you mean the case has a clear side, and LED case fans. Probably homemade, because there are a lot of cases with lights. Could be a alienware or a voodoo though.

#71 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
im tryin to build one for supreme comander , oblivion , medieval 2,WoW,Spore,
#72 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
mostly FPS, RTS, and RPG. I just got oblivion from my friend, but i'm not going to let myself play it until i buy a new graphics card. my old x850xt aint cutting it. you?
#73 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
ahh, not crysis? But yeah, if you build your own computer with good enough parts, you will be able to play all of them on pretty high settings, no prob
#74 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
crysis to i fotrgot
#75 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
i realy wanna get into battlefield 2 and other foses
#76 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
yeah. anyway, you can always buy XP, and upgrade later to vista

oh, and, believe me, if my x850xt can max out BF2, your comp will max it out with FPS to spare.
#77 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
so when you build one it doesnt come with windows?
#78 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
no. when you build a computer, you're going to need to install an OS.
#79 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
ok , how much is vista , is it better to go straight to vista . i have xp now
#80 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
um, well, you see, vista is kinda picky. it would be hard to port your XP over to ur new pc and install vista. though i heard you can buy an Upgrade version of Vista and cheat it to act as a retail.... Well i would recommend you get Home Premium and the upgrade is about 200. The OEM version is around 100 dollars, but it will be a pain in the *ss when you upgrade your parts.
#81 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
i only wanna upgrade my built pc will that be eaasier?
#82 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
yes. but when you upgrade your parts using OEM, it might be a hassle...
#83 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
well ill try it when they debug vista and when the new cards come
#84 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
yep. good luck. your gaming pc is going to own!. so have you decided on a high end card like the r600 or a mid range card like the 8600U?
#85 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
uhh still thinkin
#86 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
well, you have a month to think =D for the other parts, i would recommend a core 2 duo processor 2gb of ram however large HD you want a DVD-RW drive and a good monitor, pref. 19"+
#87 Posted by samtheyoshi (225 posts) -
wats hd?
#88 Posted by frost_mourne13 (1615 posts) -
hd=hard drive
