I'm back, but this time I need a cpu upgrade

K so I recently upgraded my gpu from a 6850 to a r9 280x and have seen major improvements in my gaming so far. Now its time I upgrade the cpu. I currently have a AMD Athlon II X4 630, it is about 4-5 years old so yea its time I swap it out. I am only looking to spend under $100 and had my eyes set on the AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad-Core 3.7GHz. But according to pcpartpicker it says that this cpu isn't compatible with my mobo which is a msi 760GM -E51. Anyone know why it isn't compatible?? can anyone recommend me a cpu that is under $100 dollars that is compatible with my mobo thanks.

Its not compatable because its two different cpus and two different sockets. your motherboard supports cpus that use the AM socket. the cpu you listed "Athlon X4 860K" uses the FM socket. which would require that you purchase another motherboard in order to use it

Your current board is a AM3+ which gives you some options.

Ill stretch the budget for fx8320. You'd be using this for years anyways, don't cheap out!

I agree on FX-6300 but if you can spend couple extra dollars then go for FX-8320 / 8320E.
