Looking to get into a new game. The only two I have really loved are the Age of Empires and the Sims series but have overplayed them to the point of boredom. I really like that both have building aspects as well as some micromanagement without being too technical. I don't enjoy the idea of Civ because I like more real-time type controls. Stuff like Rollercoaster Tycoon was good back in the day as well.

Can anyone recommend a game I might like to try out? Finding that some of the newer city builders are very technical and take away from some of the mindless fun.

theme hospital is free on origin, that would be my first stop.

Startopia is fairly fun.

But my real reccomendations would be:

Dungeon keeper 1+2 (and upcomming war for the overworld)

Syndicate 1 + syndicate wars (and upcoming satellite reign).

It is sad that you do not like turn based systems, but I will till post Endless Legend, in case it comes up cheap at some point, which may make you take the chance.

Tropico might be worth looking into, it is sort of a city builder, but very simple, which often have some odd goals and alot of charm. Not a game that takes itself too serious.

Well syndicate might not be what you are looking for when I think of it, I just like posting it :P)

Cities Skylines maybe? Comes out next month. There are plenty of articles about it if you want to look into it.
