Computer region? I'm pretty sure that region applies to your DVD player, and not your computer. And it's not something you can change.

Computers can, but doesn't the DVD player need to recognize the disc?

yes dvd players are limited ot certain regions to prevent people from playing pirated software that they buy from the bus train station lol. every nameplate on a product will state what region it is. some dvd playersyou can unlock but thats a different story.

It is, but a limited number of times. I don't recall the specific process but you have to get into your DVD drive's properties and change the region settings from there somehow..probably have to go through hardware manager.

Okay, I've found something..you are limited to 5 changes and then its permanently locked into the one you changed to when the counter reached zero. This is for Windows 2000 so it probably differs some in XP.

My Computer > DVD Drive (Right-click properties) > Hardware > DVD Drive > Properties (yes, again) > Select Region.
