$2321, $656 with sales.

Obviously, not really accurate. For example, it assumed I got Borderlands 2 for $20. I actually pre-ordered it with a discount during a free weekend leading up the release.

Still fun to know.

If I didn't own consoles, that number would be much higher most likely.

68% of my games not even played a bit D=... Oh well, some of them are games I liked on consoles and bought here on Steam as well but never got around to play yet.

176 games with a total value of

£1583

value with sales

£351

The most depressing part:

Games not played: 88 (50%)

Does it calculate value based on current prices or release prices? Either way I can't imagine it's accurate.

If i had paid full price for them then yeah I have (FYI I didn't, the majority were bought in sales), but that is over ten years of Steam ... the real question is, what would a console only gamer have spent for the same amount of games over that time? And would they still be able to play all those games on the latest version of their console?

For myself, I know I have spent more than that on console games over ten years and I wouldn't even have a 1/4 of the games on console compared to what I have available to me in Steam, and certainly a lot less than that would be playable with the latest console.

A lot of people here have high percentages of games they haven't played. Crazy.

I have 2 Steam accounts... One was VAC banned :D with 600 hours in CSS, and 63 games. I was banned for using a crosshair overlay... Tried to get it revoked but Valve don't care.

My current Steam account.

@N3xus9: They would not be able to play all those games on their latest console no, but hopefully they got the old consoles as well... Hey I still have NES with games. Haven't tested it in ages though.

Personally also spent more money on console games than I hhave on Steam yet got fewer games. However the price of my computer itself costs more than all the console games I have bought.

I went overboard when I first bought my computer, but it is still this cost that to many console gamers scares them. There are perhaps two walls stopping them. One is money(but cheaper games later on makes up for this). Another being that installing games and trouble shooting for problems seems way more diffcult than it is.

@horgen:

you are right, there are many examples of false economies in any field you look at, whether that is gaming or some other interest.

And yes up front high capex spending is frightening to some people even if they save considerable amounts of money through much lower opex in the long run. However this does not justify a "PC gaming is too expensive" statement in and of itself. Especially seeing as most people need a PC anyway, beefing that PC up to be a gaming PC probably isn't that much of a stretch.

If a person prefers console gaming because of other reasons (whatever they may be) then that is fine, however the point I am trying to make is that the "PC - too expensive" argument is without merit.

Huh, compared to some of you people I'm starting to think I really don't spend all that much time or money on games...

$759, $215 with sales. 537.8 hours on records... But hey, only 28% of my games have never been played, I guess that's something to be more or less proud of!

This is roughly 66% of all my games owned. I still have 100+ games in physical copies and out of the physical copies of games I probably have roughly 30 I haven't beat and probably half of those I have never even opened to play.

Thanks a lot - this is depressing.....jerk [/sarcasm].

I suppose the only upside to my Steam collection would be the fact that my younger brother has probably purchased about 30-40% of the games for me, so it's not just my money I've wasted!

I purchased Fallout 3 full price in the fall of 2008 for $55 after tax, yet it says "10 games with a value of $135" and below it a "value with sales of $28". Considering the amount I spent on ONE game was double the "value with sales" area. I don't think that is representing the amount spent on games registered with steam.

I think this is just telling us the total value of the items in steam (as the current price), and their value (assuming the lowest) when they've had a sale.

It does show how much money you COULD have saved with steam though I think? So that is nice I guess?... I think it's kinda useless since it seems to be using the current price of games, and not the price as it was purchased.

To be honest it only says if you have played them and not how long for... Dead Rising 2 for example I DID play it...

Ever since 2014 I stopped buying steam sale games.

Does this count DotA Items? if not, add another 180ish USD to this (current market value of course).
