So I haven't shopped for a tv in like 5 years and its time to replace my old 37 inch toshiba thats only 720p and has a scratch on the screen. Looking to spend about 600-1000 and will be using it mostly for hooking up to my pc for streaming hd movies and playing games + watching some shows as my secondary monitor. Mostly interested in picture quality at 1080p and don't care about 3d, smart tv or any of those features. Would like a tv between 40 and 47 inches. I want to pick the tv up in store but would order online if it was a really good deal. Here are a few I'm kinda interested inhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889102668&Tpk=Samsung%20UN40EH5000

Any reasons for picking the Panasonic ST50 ? Seems like I will be paying a lot just for the fact thats its a bigger screen and has 3d.

It's possibly the best consumer TV available (espcially for the price). It is much cheaper than many LCDs which have far worse picture quality.

Leaning towards the ST50 now. Is burn in still an issue with plasmas though ? If the screen is focused on 1 image for a while will it burn an image into it ? Thanks.

I fall asleep in front of mine all the time with the same screen on for up to like 3-4 hours at a time there usually is some image retention but never burned in. I usually use the built in anti retention thing and its gone or play some cartoons for 15 min or so. Either way I got a 55" after alot of research and am very happy with it

i would go with the panasonic viera plasma and maybe check their website to make sure you getting the best one for gaming - you definitely don't want to get stuck with a $1,000+ hdtv and not be able to game with it.

i found this website, looks informative. hope it helps.
