gtx 980 sli or gtx titan z

Hello all im not sure what gpu to get this is my specs:

asus maximus extreme iv

2600k@4.2 ghz

16gb ddr3 2133mhz

1tb hdd

3xb2430l in nvidia surround

i would like to game at the very best fps

any help would be great

980s are faster unless they run out of VRAM. They're also cheaper.

Best bang for buck are two GTX 970s in SLI.

The 980s are barely stronger and to SLI them would cost over 460USD more.

I agree, for 4K display the best bang for your buck would be 4x 970s not 4x 980s

980's without question. Titan Z is fail unless you can get it Ultra cheap.

Either this ^ or 2-4 way SLI 970s.

Hands down if 970s going to get 8Gb version as well.

If I were you I would look in to upgrading your CPU as well. I just went from a 3770k at 4.5 to a 5960X at 4.2 and the difference is night and day. The 5930K and 5820k are also great options, especially if you are only gaming or only plan on 2 GPU's. If you don't want to jump into X99 yet the 4770k and 4790k also do well. But multiplat console ports are starting to use more CPU power and that may become a bottleneck for you.

Oh and don't ever consider buying a Titan Z. And I'm an Nvidia fanboy.

two 980s over the titan. but two 970s makes more sense... you're throwing money away otherwise for small gains.
