which one should I get?

Lol. I just ordered the GTX 460 this morning from newegg. That was my choice. I just happen to like Nvidia cards a lot more.In my experience their drivers have always been more stable than the Catalyst drivers..BUT that's just been my experience.

From what I've read the difference is minimal with the ATI card coming out slightly ahead in benchmarks. So I think it really boils down to what your preference is. I don't think either card would be a bad choice for that price point.

If you're willing to pay the extra 10-20 dollars, the 460 is definitely the better of the two.

a GTX 460 1gig at reference is slightly slower then a 6850 but as you overclock, it will surpass a overclock 6850 (power constraints hold it back) and can match up to a 6870 oced (6870 wins though). Also, certain games run better on AMD and certain run better on Nvidia cards. That is something to also take note.

Though its very hard to find good reviews, there is one pretty good review that demonstrates the max potential of a gtx 460 1gig, 6850, and 6870...

I have personally been recommending that EVGA gtx 460 1gb card. The price is very nice for what you ae getting. Add in the 75% chance of getting the MIR (Mine came in 3 weeks after I sent it in but you never know) then the card is a complete steal at $159.99

I think you mean if your willing to save 5-25 dollars, then the 460 is the better of the two.. the EVGa card is $179.99(159.99MIR) compared to the Sapphire $184.99

Pretty much My price to performance list right now is

1. 5770 if $100 or less
2. GTX 460 768mb $120-160
3. GTX 460 1gig>6850 $160-200
4. 6870>GTX 460 1gig superclocks> 5850 & 6850's $200-250 (This flips all the time due to price wars, personal heat and power constraints)
5. 5870 $250-300
6. GTX 570 $350
7. GTX 580 $500

Cards I def wouldn't touch anymore unless extremely cheap or just to good of a deal, DX10 cards at this point, 5830, GTX 465, GTX 470, GTX 480, 5970 (new AMD cards coming so don't worry wityh the 5970)

The GTX 460 is super easy to overclock, and most of them OC to the point where you're close to GTX 470 performance without tweaking voltage. Plus it runs very cool and doesn't make noise. Really a winner all the way around. The 6850 is a great card too, right about on par with a stock GTX 460 1GB. But who leaves a GTX 460 at stock clocks?

Both of them are about equal, so unless you're comfortable with overclocking a 460 I would say get the 6850. You'll also be able to crossfire it in the future if your motherboard supports crossfire.SoraX64

I have to agree. I'm not a newbie to overclocking, but the 460 was definitely the easiest for me. You're almost guaranteed to get over 800mhz stable without touching voltages.

For example The GTX 460 that I bought from them yesterday has exactly the same specs but instead of a 2 year warranty and a 20 dollar rebate, it has a lifetime warranty and a 30 dollar rebate for 10 bucks more.

Nah... At the moment, nothing really special sale wise is going on in the gtx 460 on newegg. Each week there is a great deal such as this EVGA card. Last week was the MSI gtx 460 Hawk which was outrageously cheap and this week was the EVGA card which as sold out. I keep up with these deals and each weekend, give members some of the best prices. At the moment, nothing is quiet touching the great price to performance, free shipping, free game, etc right now in the 1gig cards.

Now if we roll back to the GTX 460 768mb range, the Asus gtx 460 768 is back to 149.99(129.99 MIR free shipping)

I do think the version I bought with the lifetime warranty is the better deal @ 10 bucks more.

I learned a long time back... Lifetime warranties are a joke (lolled on BFG, PNY, and EVGA before). So many stipulations, so many things for you to get loled on. Add in gtx 460's are meant for overclocking and many times ToU warranty clauses allow companies to pull a fast one on you... just usually now worth it unless prices are really similiar but even then I would say Nah.

Trust me... that little EVGa clause of "damage during modification of any kind" is a BIGGY...

It's a waste to use a GTX 460 stock. You can take it to a different level of performance by taking a few minutes to overclock it.

It's a waste to use a GTX 460 stock. You can take it to a different level of performance by taking a few minutes to overclock it.
