I will be getting my intel 4790k in the mail soon and Im thinking about upgrading my graphics card. Right now I have a gtx 660 sc. For 1 to 2 hundred dollars what would you suggest. Im not sure what i will be looking to play but i currently play a ton of skyrim modded out so im looking to run it at 60 fps currently run it at 58 but keep it set to 30 fps because it dips alot to around 40 or so.

Well what was your previous cpu? Because if it was an AMD cpu, Skyrim's performance just with that cpu will be greatly increased.

It will be like getting a new gpu lol.

I would wait and see because with only $200 your options are slim and gains will not be as large. Nvidia's new 960 series will be releasing within a few weeks and they should be in the $200 ranges. If you save up another $100-$160 and you will be able to get alot better options, like GTX 970 or AMD 290

Good plan, but for example with a GTX 680 and FX 8350 Skyrim averages 65 fps while a 2nd gen i5 2500k averaged 90 fps with same gpu. With that i7 you will most likely see some really good gains with cpu bound based games.

Wait for GTX 960 or grab a R9 280 (3GB) SAPPHIRE DUAL-X.

Well, even if it takes time the motherboard and cooler is not going anywhere. Just make sure to pick at least a H97 board but aim for a Z97 if you can since Z97 are the only chipset that allows overclocking.

280 would be a waste of money coming from a GTX 660, best to wait it and see what 960's are able to do and or save more money

If he waits for the right price, he can grab a 290.

Only when the new 3XX series will come out the 290 would be at range of 200$~

For the moment there's nothing at that price range that's worth buying; I'd SLI that 660 - best thing to do ATM

130$ for the cheapest 660 - you can buy SLI MOBO if you do not have one right now with the rest of the money, just make sure you own a 650Watts PSU at least

Yea, I though about sli and I have an 800 psu so no problem there. I figured it would be better bang for buck to just get a whole new card opposed to getting another 660. I am going to get a z97 board just not decided on one yet. Im going to try and find a mobo I like thats red and black. My case is mass effect themed so im going to try to get a board to match, but if i cant its no big deal lol.

On the unrelated side I may get a new hard drive. Reason being is that I have two hard drive from 7 years ago that combined make 500 gb. So imay just buy a new hard drive and wait till the new line of cards comes out. (Also these are my only hard drives.)

Since you guys have me thinking about it I think i may want to wait and see how much of an increase my new cpu is going to give me before I buy a new card.

For that price range wait for the 960 ti to release or the AMD's 3X0 series to release before you decide anything.

Either ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer or Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI

3rd option is MSI Z97-Gaming 3

No need going over 120$ for SLI MOBO
