Before reading more below this section, allow me to commend the person who initiated this Graphics Card Ranking. He is none other than J3r3my. This topic is very useful for us gamers. Let's also thank the people who continued this chart updated. They are NrGx, Astroz, TheSandman and Anth0789. We are not related in any way or another. I just repackaged this topic to help more people about dealing the choice of graphics cards.

If you want some graphics cards' rank changed you must provide benchmarks or other evidence to back it up first. Then, let me know where it should be on the list. I will be the one updating the Graphics Cards Ranking List.

These are the brands that are included on the list:

3DFX
ATI -> AMD
Intel
Matrox
Nvidia
S3

Note: Try pressing Ctrl+F in order to find your specific video card faster.

I hope sihunt doesn't mind but the first post became toolarge to fit the SLI/Crossfire ranking so I added them in here.

This is the original post:

Hi Gamespot should make a sticky out of this so members can refer to

it themselves instead of asking in the Hardware Forumhow a specfic card ranks.

Also good work in putting this list together.

just use this to rank cards. you could probably write a program that would do them and sort them fairly quickly.

this list is no where close to acurate.

3 GTX 265's in SLI are more powerful than 2 GTX 295's in Quad SLI....

EDIT: after furter looking at the card list it is severly messed up. 1 GTX 285 is more powerdul than a 4870X2...... whoever made this list had no idea what he was doing.....

Also most benchmarks will show that a GTX 275 defeats ATI 4890 overall.

This list is decent overall, but isn't entirely accurate. 7/10. Possibly compiled by someone who prefers ATI cards.

[QUOTE="sihunt"] okway what the hell? the 4850 is better than the 9800 GTX+

Please don't get angry. Instead, give a valid reason why you think 4850 is better than the 9800 GTX+. Let's discuss not argue.

this list is no where close to acurate.

3 GTX 265's in SLI are more powerful than 2 GTX 295's in Quad SLI....

EDIT: after furter looking at the card list it is severly messed up. 1 GTX 285 is more powerdul than a 4870X2...... whoever made this list had no idea what he was doing.....

I see. Validate your assumptions more please by using benchmarks or the likes.

I'll try to update the list soon. Thank you.

PS: I am satisfied with my 13th for my main rig and about the equivalent of 36th for my laptop GPU. Can't complain!

it was a quote error and TC, the 4850 is a better performer both at stock and when overclocked, price is the same so the 4850 is superior

I'm sorry about that. It was supposed to be for GTR2addict, my mistake. Anyway, Color Code Updated!!! I'm planning to add games that need this "specific" video card as the minimum requirement.

I already added some latest games beside their minimum graphics card requirement. Sadly, the number of characters I can put on the first post is already maxed out. Thus, I'll put the other latest games with respect to their minimum graphics card requirement on another post. Too bad, Gamespot's forum has very limited number of characters allowed per post. By the way, it is a fact that there are two leading brands to these video cards. I only put the game titles beside the video cards in which it can be barely played. Meaning, it is regardless of whether it is a NVidia or ATi manufacturer the video card belongs to.

four things i noticed you were missing. not trying to be picky just a heads up in order to be more accurate at some point.

1. no geforce fx 5000 series cards.

2. no rankings in crossfire for the hd 2400pro/xt, 2600pro/xt

3. single cards list doesnt contain the hd 4890

4. no tri sli/crossfire list yet.. itd be nice to have but isnt 100% necissary.

6th :D . Nice list, but I think you could have an integrated list with both sli/crossfire and single card solutions

Every bench Ive looked at has the 9800 gtx+ a little ahead of the 4850... but the 4850 is significantly smaller and can pass through 5.1 audio. So overall I would say the 4850 is a better card, but the 9800 gtx+ outperforms it by a few frames in most games.

XD its all good top 40 are considered mid ranged upper class to high end gpu's hence why a 3870x2 is up next to the 9800gt XD

please check the list again, i updated it and i think you can find the minimum video card required to play fallout 3 there. press Ctrl+F then type your query and you'll find it faster.

8/10. There are some misfires in my opinion, but it's a decent list overall.
