Good old FPS

cod1 + united offensive. one of the best shooters and expansions ever imo

i just reinstalled it on my new pc. its funny, i went from crysis on very high settings to crappy old cod1 graphics again. cod1 is more fun

There is a ton of 'good old FPS' games out there. It depends how far back you want to go...

You can grab Doom, Doom 2, Heretic and Hexen dirt cheap and run them all through Doomsday which improves the look of the graphics.

Then there are other 'old' shooters like these:

Then you get into the full 3D engine games:

So...there's a lot of FPS gaming goodness out there for you to sink your teeth into, but your mileage may vary.

Buy the Orange Box. It's the best PC game deal ever (if you like Half-Life 2 + Episode 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal).

All of the games are just absolutely fantastic, and you can pick it up for $40 I believe.

i love cod 1 and united offensive 2 of my best games of all time i would very very much recommend them*edit* also hasone of the best missions ever when you are the Russians, you don't have a gun to start with just bullets and you follow a guy round

I doubt that my laptop can run those old games. I can't play a lot of old games because its resolution. :(Kleeyook

I've played most of those on a laptop that has 1440x900 native resolution. Just change the res settings in the game to 1024x768 and they should run without a problem. You can also run some in windowed mode if necessary (ie, not full screen).

For older DOS games you can use DOSBox. Download some demos and try them out if you're not sure.
