Hey GS its been a while, I hope I'm in the correct section of the forums. I'm looking for a web design and C++, python all around laptop to code on and some light rendering and some Photoshop.

I've been looking around and there aren't really much options I thought you guys might know of some good laptops preferably I7 quad core but not necessary. any ideas?

try to find a laptop that has the new Intel Iris Pro 5200 in the CPU (Intel Core i7-4770HQ for example). you don't need a heavy GPU for the stuff you are doing, but that integrated puppy is still more powerful than most low-mid dedicated GPUs. therefor, you can expect such laptop to be much more future-proof. perfect for Photoshop use and for some light gaming too (i take it that you are interested in that, since you are posting at gaming site).

Some cute, slim 14" models are starting at 1000€ here in EU, but you forgot to mention your pricerange. You can definetly get a laptop that handles Photoshop with less money, but it's always good to consider a more future-proof setup. as for web design and coding, you can do that with any POS you get your hands on.

e: i'm actually using Photoshop and SolidWorks on one system that only has Intel HD 4600. Photoshop is fine, but SolidWork only for very basic stuff.

You can get a Dell Inspiron with a i7, 8GB RAM, Intel 5500 and a 1TB HDD for only 675 right now.

Here is my input its $50 over your budget but it's almost worth the extra $50 over other laptops due to looks alone. And it's got a touch IPS screen for accurate colors and blacks, along with Photoshop pen capabilities. An ASUS Zenbook UX303LA-DS51T

$849.99

  • 13.3-Inch IPS FHD touchscreen display (1920 x 1080).
  • Intel Core i5-5200U 2.2GHz. 8GB DDR3L RAM.
  • 128GB Solid State Storage.
  • 802.11 A/C. Amazing 8-hour battery life.
  • 3x USB 3.0, 1x microHDMI, 1x miniDisplayPort, Bluetooth 4.0, SDXC slot.

I am uncertain to how this systems integrated graphics perform. I assume it should do Photoshop, though researching how others perform with that program on that laptop is something you'll have to do. But for $850 that's a half decent laptop if gaming isn't something you wish to do.
