Hey, my graphics card on my computer is failing all the time and it seems I need a new one. However my PC is about 3-4 years old. So the specs are:

intel i7 930 @ 2.80 ghz

motherboard: X58A-UD3R Gigabyte.

6 GB of ram

1 GB nvidia 465 (which is failing)

coolermaster 650W

So I was thinking of getting a nvidia 760 but was worried that it wouldn't work well with my setup and the power supply wouldn't be enough. However down the line I think I will upgrade more of my computer.

The 760 is the equivalent of my 7850 I've heard. You should be fine with that card with your current setup.

Overclock the CPU and it will last another year or two. GPU upgrade is most needed.

At least this is my opinion on it.

Where I live the 760 cost as much as the R9 280X and you know what I'm going to recommend, anyway the 650W supply is more than enough unless you're into 2 GPUS SLI/Cross

More like the 7950. It's about as fast as a 670.

It also overclocks a lot.

The 760 would be fine with your current setup. The only drawback is that your motherboard only has PCI-E 2.0 x16 and the 760 is a 3.0 card, so you won't get everything out of it.

Thats simply ignorant. The performance difference between a 3.0 and a 2.0 at x16 is almost non-existent.

According to Asus PSU wattage calculator, the minimum wattage for your setup with GTX 760 is 700W as minimum, so you should get a 800W PSU.

The i7 930 is a very power hungry one.

if you are not SLI-ING you only need a 550W to be totally in spec for high end-gpu there cheap. i7 930 is hungy cpu but FX8300 is even more hungry when overclocked
