could be...

but dont nvidia say you need 400 or more for its dx10 cards? so really that cant be it..unless vista needs an update to get the most out of the new gpu's.cause i know most people with these cards are getting better performance with xp until the full vivsta upgrade comes out.so that is most likely the problem im getting.

400W for a PSU (especially if it's not a high-efficiency unit) is very much pushing the minimum limits of what an 8800 is supposed to be receiving. At the very least, I highly suggest upgrading to a much higher-wattage and/or higher-efficiency power supply. Corsair has managed to make an HE 620W model that was capable (at least in the last photos @ CES '07) to be able to power an 8800gtx SLi, as proof of their efficiency capabilities. I would also suggest getting a UPS with AVR support if you aren't already using one. Clean power is a must, and you can't always trust just whatever's being fed through the outlets, especially if you live in an area that is prone to brownouts/blackouts, power surges or even simply a house that doesn't have the best quality wiring running through it.

I know this doesn't relate to the topic, but your processor is definitely a bottleneck for your GTS.

What are you talking about? I have an E6300 as well and have had no problems with any game with my 8800gts.

1680x1050. I've yet to find a single game I own that I can't max out AA and AF at this resolution either.

hmmm for now perhaps...remember your playing DX9 games with a high end DX10 GPU...when DX10 games start shipping out you might see a bottleneck

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your card.

400w is enough for that card.
