Far Cry 2 impressions

ok so i was able to get my hands on far cry 2 today(retail version). I've spent some time on the single player already, and so far it's pretty good.multiplayer creator takes some time getting used to . like i mentioned in an earlier post, it has a benchmarking tool, and i can safely say the game is optimised fairly well. i can answer some questions you guys might have about it but note that i've only been playing for 5-6 hours.

how's the enemy AI? if there's anything i don't like from the video clips i've watched, it's the seemingly brain dead AI.

hmm...sounds great..... but from what i saw, the enemies tend to stand still and shoot away. on top of that, you seem to be able to absorb an insane amount of damage. so how would you compare its AI to other fps games?

you start the game only allowed to use 3 guns slots for small, medium, large guns. if you decide to swap out one gun it will replace the current gun you have in that corresponding class. you always have a machete. not all weapons are available to you from the beginning but you to unlock them throughout the game. you can take are fair bit of damage but it depends on the weapon they use so it doesn't really seem that unbalanced with your health. you can save anywhere in the world

Some people have been complaining about how driving-heavy the game is, and it how it seems like driving to the mission objectives is a lot more time consuming than the actual mission itself... I know you haven't been playing it for too long now, but any thoughts on this?

Good to hear the AI may not be as brain-dead as some of the videos I've seen. I guess most movies are played on the Easy settings anyways.

Why would people complain about long driving? That's what I'm looking forward to! 50 square kms to explore in my jeep, soaking in the sights, can't wait. People didn't like fast travel in oblivion so why complain about long drives, the longer the better imo.couly

real tree (dont know what it is), fire effects, physics, vegetation, shading, terrain, geometry, post processing, textures, shadows, ambient and HDR/bloom which you can them both running at the same time. Antialising is available from 2x to 8. most of these settings can be adjusted to low to ultra high, some will only go up to very high. Resolution seems very scalable so i dont think anyone will have a problem with that

i havnt tried the c4 yet so i cant let you know on that one

Whats most of the enviornment you have seen like? its 50km so does it look rather bland and copy paste or lots of things going on?Astaroth2k

Can you go anywhere from the start or are there obstructions like a blocked bridge or road which you have to 'unlock'. ?couly

the graphics are good considering the size of the world and the fact that i did not encounter a single loading time in the world. they are not crysis level good but they a very very solid(it's up there with the best). definately not a console port...i dont know why the installation is so small. It doesnt matter when game looks and runs great if you have the right hardware to take advantage of the gameCrystal-Rush

My guess is that its because FC2 uses procedural content a lot. These are generated randomly based on the instructions and hence require a lot less space. Spore was so small because of that only.

hey guys dont listen to that jackass hez got only the map editor juslt like me and you cant have rivals yet, you can make a cool terrain and drive/blow up **** wich is extremely fun but thats all it has.

I have it from the internet and still waiting for a kack (like every1) ,so we can see if its playabe. and its allways the possibility that the original version IS in fact around 6 Giga
