Example of a sub 1000 dollar gaming PC

I have heard for years about everyone building a powerful PC for 800 dollars, could anyone show me an example of the best I could get with this? I could reuse my case and probably PSU (its a 650 Watt PC Power & Cooling). I would need CPU/GPU/MOBO/RAM/HDD (large preferrably) and hopefully a medium size SSD for OS. Is it realistic to get all this for 800 dollars? I would want at least a great i5 if not an i7 and the best GPU I could get with that budget.

Do you want to overclock the pc at all? Do you already have access to Windows or do that need to factored into the price? Do you have a preference of graphic cards such as AMD or Nvidia? Which resolution is the monitor you are using? A decent gaming computer can be built for about $800 but the SSD may not fit into the budget.

No need to overclock, monitor is currently 1608 x 1050, but might think about hooking up to 32" TV, usually go with ATI/AMD, SSD isn't a requirement, but I would like it for sure. Also, I don't need a windows disc.

Go for an i5, an i7 would bring barely noticeable increase in performance for a 100$ more. You could also wait for the price drops for the 700 series in November to get the most out of that budget.
