What's up everyone?

It appears I'm finally ready (budget wise) to upgrade from my crossfire 7950's. I'm leaning towards SLI GTX 980's. I haven't decided on which brand yet, and I'm waiting to see if the 8GB versions release soon, but I'm just checking to see if my psu is up to snuff for them.

I've got a Corsair RM850 80+ Gold psu in my rig right now. I usually have my i5 2500k OC'd to 4.4Ghz. And, I know that chances are, I'll be OC'ing the new cards as well. I've also got 16 GB's of ram, and 9 internal fans (yes, it's still pretty quiet =D ). After researching a bit on Google, and checking a few total draw calculators online, it seems like it should be enough to handle them, but I also value your guys opinions and advice.

Easy as pie, even 3-way SLI 980's and 4-way should be fine.

Why are you waiting on 8GB? Do you play @ 4K? If not you would be wasting your money.

Gah....I know man. I'm planning on moving up to 1440p across 3 monitors as well (eventually)...and even at that resolution...I know it'll be overkill. But you know...I'm just easily suckered in by larger numbers. I'm going to splurge a little now, and maybe reap a few benefits in the long term.

That's a lot to spend just on some monitors. But if you got the money and that's what you want then go for it. I'm sure, you'll be future proof with 8GB for quiet sometime.

You'd be fine with 4Gb versions, 8Gb version meant for 4K gaming.

About the PSU question, for 2x 980s a 650Watts would be fine.

If you can crossfire 7950's on that PSU you should be good to go with SLI 980.

Yep, I run SLI 970 and I see around 400W at the wall.
