I've been playing Quake4 for 7 years so I figure I can use a new game but I don't want the Internet to download a bunch of crap to my computer. I buy Rage and it has 3 DVD's which I know has enough info to play the game so my question is Are there any new game that I can play on Windows 7 without downloading this Stream crap to my computer?

How are you supposed to play games against other people without the Internet? Games are competitions of skill, designed to be played against or with other people. If you just want to play interactive movies masquerading as games, go buy a console.

You'll have to research it based on the title you are interested.

You are still making a mountain out of a molehill. How does the medium in which you get the game matter, instead of just playing the game?

sounds like something my grandma would say...

...without downloading this Stream crap to my computer?

it's Steam, and it's your best friend when it comes to PC gaming.

welcome to 2012.

A PC without the internet is like a sink without running water.

Most single player games don't require internet to play, but you will need to access the internet at least once in the beginning, to activate the game. After initial activation, you won't need internet anymore. Anyway, I'm surprised that you're saying Steam is crap. In fact, Steam is probabaly one of the best things to have happend to PC gaming. Its just too damn good.

do your research before buying a game. Even a lot of single player games need internet activation these days.

Well, if he's like me - his ISP has a monthly data limit so the less downloading the better. :(

Pretty sure you can still get the retail box and play without internet. Definitely depends on the title you are looking at.

Check out GOG then, once you have downloaded the game you can do what ever you want with it, and you don't have to connect to the internet to play them

What I meant is that he doesn't need to use Steam, no external software required to use games bought from there. And with Steam you need to play a game once while connected to the internet before you can play it offline.

I'm not certain what you're asking about, you're telling us you have 3 DVDs for RAGE and yet you still need to download the files from Steam to play it?
