I recently decided it was time to play Oblivion again and I thought my mid-ranged system would handle it just fine. I was completely wrong as the framerate was all over the place.

I know the engine is awful but do Fallout 3 and New Vegas run better, I was really looking to get lost in some PC WRPG action.

What are your specs? FO3 and Oblivion have very similar recommended specs, while FONV are higher. Based on my memory, I felt that Fallout 3 ran good. But, it did crash on occasion.

You could always go for Morrowind. It's better than Oblivion in every possible way pretty much except for graphics.

I played it a long time ago and I would disagree. Oblivion was three steps forward but also two steps back. Fortunately mods have done a huge amount to solve a lot of the games issues and I thought it would be a good time to go back to the game.

With a mid-range system you should have no problems with Oblivion, it's 8 years old.

Kinda depends on the mods. Stuff like ENB can cripple a system.

If you mean vanilla then the system (mid end) should handle it without blinking.

With any mid-range system from 2008-2009 and onward should have no problems ( hell even my old 8800gt still plays Fallout 3 at high settings and thats a 2007 Gpu )
