Any suggestions?  I don't really keep up with laptop hardware so I've no idea really what would be best.  I'd like at least a small SSD for quick booting with a secondary drive for games.  I'd like to keep it under £800 if possible, I understand this wont be cutting edge but if I could play new games on even lowest settings that would be good. I've got a load of older games and it's mainly for playing them.  If it makes a huge difference spending another £200 I might consider it though.

Not exactly a gaming laptop, but it's got some sort of dedicated gpu. I've looked on Youtube to see how it performs and it seems to be fine, even if it is a bit weak.

Cheers. Looks reasonable but seems to be a US only model.

How is this: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers-for-next-day-delivery/105/ Chassis & Display Optimus Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080) Processor (CPU) Intel® Corei7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-4700MQ (2.40GHz) 6MB Memory (RAM) 8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (2 x 4GB) Graphics Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 765M - 2.0GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 11 Memory - Hard Disk 1TB SERIAL ATA II 2.5" HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (5,400rpm) DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 8x SATA DVD±R/RW/Dual Layer (+ 24x CD-RW) £842 My only worry looking at this is the 5400rpm HD, not sure if this will cause super long load times for games?

That's much better. The 5400 rpm is slower, but it's not going to make things unbearable. Either way, that laptop should play anything you throw at it.

great stuff, thanks man. :) It seems I can even upgrade the hard disk to a 7200rpm WD Scorpio black for minimal price difference so it looks like I'm in business. Just need to wait for pay day now so I can get enough funds together!

Haha well thanks anyway. ;) I was aware of them but didn't even know they did laptops until I found a review. Didn't realise you could even get custom laptop builds like these.

I'm going for an MSI GE70 2OE with an I7 4700, 8Gb DDR3, a 7200rpm HDD/ 128Gb SSD, a Geforce GTX765M and a bluray drive. It's 1400 euro's, which I think is a respectable price. It won't give me Crysis 3 at ultra, but the kind of PC games I like on ultra (Starcraft2, Anno2070, TheWitcher2, etc...)

If you can get one, I recommend a Sager laptop. Pretty cheap for the power and performance that it can provide.
