Hi,

It's been a while since I upgraded my GPU (I currently have a HD7950 3GB which I bought a couple of months after release), great card btw but since that purchase many games have been released and I changed my monitor and the resolution has changed too (was a 1920x1080 now it is 2560x1080).

With that said I'd like give my PC a boost performance by adding a second GPU. I've been reading and it is possible to mix those two cards but I'd like to have some confirmation from you guys.

Any input about this topic?

Thanks.

AMD arent doing it to allow cheaper upgrades they are doing it because it allows more sales but AMD are using those 7000 series to fill in the 200 line and be able to charge more then what 7000 were going before phasing them out. Most of 200 series are just renamed 7000 series with higher clocks. The 700 series like the 770 might be very similar to the 680 but nvidia did modified the gf104 core where SLI is not possible. All other Nvidia AMD series are not cross generational because of new architectures and changes done. The 7000 series to 200 series are the exception to the rule right now . unless they rehash the current 200 lines with 300 lines for fill in.

Nice, thanks for the confirmation.. I have another question and please pardon my ignorance... Will I be able to take advantage of features like mantle? Is there a way to set the newer card to be the primary card and the other one just a secondary one or is crossfire pretty much like a raid 0 where the load gets balanced evenly between GPUs?

Thanks.

Mantle works with all GCN based gpu so anything 7000 or newer series.
