Guys, a friend of mine needs a new rig so can you please outline a rig that is under 400 dollars? He's going to need a monitor, keyboard, mouse and UPS. He's got the OS so there's need for that. No need for dedicated graphics. I'm getting him the rig from here so please use this site only for getting the needed parts.

$400 for a build with a monitor tacked on wont cut it, you might as well get a low end prebuilt and a monitor.

might as well get this.

a little over $400 if i calculated it right.

its possible if hes getting a used build (which in my experience has been positive) but a new build for that much will be pretty crappy.

If its used and you can trust the parts, maybe but for the most part it will be pretty sucky

It's easier now with AMDs APUs. I recently built someone a rig for 450 using a 3870k, 8gb ram, 128GB SSD, case.

If you have a fry's near you, you can get a cooler master case with a PSU already in it for about 40-50 bucks, get 8GB of value ram, Fm2 motherboard and APU that fits your budget and grab a monitor in your price range.

yeah but he needs a M/K and a monitor, so in total $400 is nowhere near enough.

$400 with a monitor is nothing... Up that to $600 and get a G530.

Indeed. Looks very unlikely. If he already had the monitor then maybe.
