To whom it may concern: (sounds funny in a forum post doesn't it?) I would appreciate some help please.

I currently clone my 7850's output to two 1080P60 displays, a monitor and a TV.

My plan is to buy a 144 Hz monitor, to replace the monitor in my set up. So, I would be cloning to a 1080P60, and a 1080P144 display.

So, is it possible to clone to both displays, but have one display at 60 and the other 144? (my guess is that this is still not possible)

I imagine the simplest solution would be to set up shortcut keys in Catalyst Control Center, but if it is possible to run both at the same time, that'd be ideal.

I'm just trying to figure out what I'm in for.

Thanks in advance.

ok. it seems that displayfusion will allow for setting of multiple monitors, clone displays, but separate hertz. so in all likelihood i'm going to be sorted.

there was a dearth of information about this, i was surprised.

Why do you need all these monitors and TV's going simultaneously for?

convenience. i'd like to be able to do something like play a strategy game at the desk, then when I've had enough if i wanted to play something like watch_dogs, I could migrate to the couch to do that. without having to change any settings at all, if possible.

at work i use 4x 1280x1024 monitors simultaneously, but that's another story.

on topic. i'm afraid display fusion didn't actually provide the solution i anticipated. so i'm just running with a compromised solution:

i use displayfusion to get a taskbar/start menu on both screens

they both run at their native resolutions and refresh rates.

pretty easy to stop gaming on the monitor, migrate to the couch, then use that window to execute a game / movie, and just ensure the window stays on that monitor.

the only niggling problem i've had, is that sometimes games insist on fullscreening to the 'incorrect' display. for example, doom³ BFG edition.

One more little thing - I'm extremely happy with this 144Hz monitor, and the overall experience. I think 75Hz is a good compromise, but 144 ... holy shit. Just, holy shit.

I just tried with my displays. 144hz and 74hz. Cloning just works in

Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution

When I connected my second monitor to the igpu instead, the option for cloning wasn't present. When both connected to my 670 and I can clone them, with one running at 144hz, the other at 74.

thanks jiggly.i really appreciate you trying it out on your set up.

in my set up they're both running off the 7850 gpu and i'm not using my core i5's integrated GPU.

mmm yes 'Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution', was the first thing i tried, but if i clone them, under 'list all modes' it will choose 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz and blanket apply that over both displays.

in displayfusion if i clone, the option to choose 144 hz gets greyed out.

i think you might be right about AMD cards not supporting it, under clone it seems to insist upon one refresh rate for all monitors. i'm pretty open minded about GPU's so i could change camp next upgrade.

i'll take some screens of what's happening when I'm home.

thanks again jiggly.
