hey people, i cannot update my bios on my evga  680i...  i will list things i have tried:

- Tried update center on Vista, but Vista hates it
-Tried update Center on a Hard drive with XP.   froze during the process.
-Tried 3 different floppy drives,  drive makes chugging sound and then stops and nothing happens during boot.
-Cleared CMOS and tried the above again. Didn't work.
-Tried updating Bios with a CD, and a USB drive,  didn;t work.

-Floppy disk and USB drives are both recognized on Windows.

Specs:
EVGA 680i Motherboard
e6600  2.4ghz
8800 gtx
G skill ddr2 800 ram
X-fi Platinum
36gb 10k HDD
400gb  HDD
Thermaltake toughpower 850w
thermaltake Armor case.

I am all out of ideas people... If anyone could suggest anything i would appreciate it.  Is my Motherboard faulty?

Hmm, I had problems updating it with a floppy too. I got CRC errors which was a little annoying. I managed to do it through the USB key though. Did you follow the steps for USB flashing on the EVGA website because just any old USB pen drive won't work, it has to be made bootable.

Well my advice is to try it again and then post up your problem on the message board. Very helpful and knowledgeable people over there, they will know what to do even if it means RMAíng it.

yeah probably not worth RMAing for me, since i imported the motherboard from America to Australia, i would probably have to post it there, and then probably pay for return postage as well since im not in the normal area and that would be like $200 AU. And thats half the price of the board. If it is that ill probably just get another one. And ebay this one. if that was the case

I built my rig last month and updated the BIOS using a floppy without problems. I did not have an OS on it at the time though, whether that makes any difference I am not sure. As above, I would certainly recommend going to their boards. That way you will get it sorted. Good luck!

reckon its safe to overclock with this problem?
