Apologizes, but I'm not computer savvy. I'm deciding to buy Skyrim Legendary Edition when it's on sale on Steam, but before I do I wanna know if my laptop can run it. I don't care if it's medium, low, or ultra high, I just want it to be able to run. Here's my Spec (ASUS B43S):::

Windows 7 64-bit

Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.5 GHZ (4 CPUs) ~2.5GHz

4096MB RAM

DirectX 11

AMD Radeon HD 6470M

**(I don't think this stuff is important below:::)

*ATI technologies INC

*ATI display adapter 0x6760

Internal DAC 400MHz

Answers would be appreciated

I am afraid that you will be able only to play it with low settings at 720p.

Your GPU is just one tier higher than HD3000 thats inside Sandybridge...

These are the settings for HD3000 on Skyrim:

You can try a little bit higher but I recommend you to use FRAPS, and play with the settings a bit. This guy just used Medium settings.

The HD3000 is my graphics on my motherboard, it couldn't run Skyrim at all, even on low at 720p it was below 30fps

What? oO

You are confused. Sandybridge HD3000 is the GPU inside top Sandybridge CPUs... And his GPU is even faster. Not to mention htat his CPU is capable of 50FPS even in Max settings. And Skyrim is a heavy CPU depending game.

edit: @jinnei: This is from game debate where I placed your specs. When the game is not popular the statistics are incorrect. But hell we are talking about the most popular game in the last 5 years...

Game Debate's View

Medium Settings - This system has some slightly weaker components but it should still run The Elder Scrolls V on medium settings

That's the best thing you can do. My bet is medium settings with the texture quality on "medium" instead of "high". :D

Haha, I thought so...

Yeah the integrated Radeon 3000 is one tier below HD 3000. And two tier's below TC's GPU. But I am still surprised to hear this. My cousin was playing Skyrim at 720p with a 2008 laptop, with Core2Duo (2,13GHz dual core if I remember well), 4GB RAM and 8600M GT (a 16-core Geforce)... You should be able to play it at least at low settings...

Not that its a problem, I used it for a week or two when I first got the PC and I was waiting for GPU to get delivered as it got delayed. It just about did Skyrim at low settings, but dipped below 30fps way to often for it to be playable really.

If I stayed out in the countryside and stared at trees, it could handle the game, as soon as I entered towns or went anywhere there was a few sprites on screen it threw a bitch fit and barely ran.

As you could tell from that experience I was happy when my 7850 arrived.

Oh, I can understand how you felt. My GTX570 (similar performance to your 7850) died 3 months ago and I am still waiting for GTX970 to arrive in normal prices here (they are still 50 to 100 euros more overpriced than rest of Europe). Thank the God, HD4600 is capable of playing some games (path of exile <3) while on some other light games sux (Diablo 3 is like 25FPs @1080p :( ), but I haven't play any heavy game for 3months :(.

I understand your pain, will be getting the 970 myself soon, been wanting a GPU upgrade since earlier in the year (made a thread here actually) and was advised to wait for the new Nvidia cards.

I'd say low, 20-30 fps (maybe) at 720P.
