So I am on a budget and am looking for a new HDTV for 700 or under so far I think I found 2 that might work for me, I am a causal gamer and avid movie watcher and watch lots of sports as well the 2 I am thinking about are

Samsung - 51" Class - Plasma - 1080p - 600Hz - HDTV

  • Model:PN51E530A3FXZA

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+51%26%2334%3B+Class+-+Plasma+-+1080p+-+600Hz+-+HDTV/4846774.p?id=1218551142545&skuId=4846774and the other

Panasonic - 50" Class / Plasma / 1080p / 600Hz / HDTV

    • Model:TC-P50U50

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasonic+-+50%26%2334%3B+Class+/+Plasma+/+1080p+/+600Hz+/+HDTV/4841493.p?id=1218541224061&skuId=4841493So

those are the two I am looking at now but open to suggestions the room the tv is going to be in is very light controled and liminted so I am leaning toward plasmas in general but if anyone has any better ideas/options for me that would be greatalso sorry for gammer mistikes english not first langauge

i have been in the market for a tv as well. i Think i have pretty much narrowed it down to the ut50 based on every ones opinions and how awesome the tv is. It seems the panasonics are the way to go with plasmas ive never owned so i cant speak personally but everyone on different multiple sites seem to favor panasonic for plasmas. Just my two sense http://reviews.cnet.com/best-plasma-tvs/

Panasonic Plasmas are the best, the UT50 is good but the ST50 is better (I know it's out of your budget)

I would say the two you listed are decent choices. My only advice would be to hold off for a month, watch Amazon, and look for deals/bundles. I wouldn't be surprised If you could get an ST50 at JUST over your budget, around the holidays. There's also frequent promotions with tvs. When I bought mine (st30-42in), I payed $720, no tax, free shipping, and with a free bluray player--which was a promotion. About a week after I bought it, Panasonic started offering the Avatar 3D Starter Kit(film/2 pairs glasses) with their sets as a promotion. I called, which is always beneficial vs email, and Amazon honored BOTH promotions. For that reason I recommend Amazon, unless BB is currently offering a decent sale.

I would stay away from any plasma tv because of lifespan they have or don't have

Worst advice ever. I fully recommed that you go for the UT50 TC. Colours and bright room performance isn't the best, but its black level is as deep as the best plasmas on the market, at 0.009cd/m2, just like the VT50, GT50 and ST50. The ST50 offers the same black level, but higher brightness = better contrast, less reflections and more accurate colours. If you have more to spend, go for that, but the UT50 is an excellent tv regardless.

The minimum life usually stated for Plasmas is 30,000 hours to half-brightness, which equates to about 10 years at 8 hours/day, and many manufacturers are now claiming 60,000 hours. Unless you are planning on keeping a TV for 20+ years, in which case the rest of the world will be watching holograms, plasma TVs should last a good amount of time.

Panasonic claims 100,000 hours until half life.
