Hi everyone,

Hoping to get an opinion on which laptop I should buy. My budget is around $1000. So far I've been looking at these two because I heard the price is pretty good for the specs.

The first one is $50 cheaper with a slightly better graphics card but 8 gb less ram.

I haven't bought a computer for awhile so I'm not sure what's a good deal or not anymore. Feel free to let me know if both are terrible and there's something much better I can get for $1000ish.

Edit: I wanted a laptop with a touch screen but it seems like gaming laptops in general are not touch screen? Is there a reason for this?

Thank You

If I was buying a lappie today, I'd buy this. Sager 13.3" notebook:

$1099

Mobile I7, GTX 860m/Intel GMA switchable

13.3" 1080p

Go with Asus, MSI and Lenovo as brands.

Thanks for the advice.

I found this laptop.

I'm thinking of getting the $959 one. Do you think it is better than the futureshop toshiba I listed above? 8gb less ram but it has 24gb ssd (which I assume they install the os on and it will load faster?)

The MacBook Air and Sager is a bit out of my price range :( I was hoping on spending less than what I already looked at haha so this is already pushing my budget

The Sager I mentioned is less than $100 more. The GTX 860m is equivalent to a desktop GTX 570. Compare that to the GT 755m (Lenovo 410p) which is just shy in performance to a desktop HD 5770.

With such a huge gap in performance, I'd push a bit more for the Sager. It'd benefit me more in the long run. Plus, ground shipping is free (UPS) for the continental US. At least that's what it says on the site.

Oh wait. You're in Canada. Still. I'm tempted to give my ASUS to my kid and buy that Sager. 13" is perfect for my needs.

The 24Gb SSD will improve only boot time of the OS and maybe some small programs.

And yes it is way better for gaming than the Toshiba one you've mentioned due to better GPU while the 8Gb RAM is all you need for gaming.

IMO go with the 850$ one and save some money or if you're really want to play on 1600x900 resolution instead of the 1366x768 you can go with the 900$ one.
