Just bought Bioshock Infinite and wonder if you guys have any suggestions as to what graphic-settings would work for my quite old computer, is it even playable at a decent fps? Anyway, here's my rig:

Intel Q9550 (OC 3.4ghz), Gigabyte GTX560Ti OC, 8GB DDR2: Corsair TWIN2X 6400C4DHX

It will be playable, likely on high settings.

The cpu is above recommended and the gpu is above minimum and just below recommended.

Ok thnx. where did you get that systemrequirements btw. This is what i could find (on 2K's website):

RECOMMENDED

  • OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64-bit
  • Processor: Quad Core Processor
  • Memory: 4 GB
  • Hard Drive: 30 GB free
  • Video Card: DirectX11 Compatible, AMD Radeon HD 6950 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
  • Video Card Memory: 1024 MB
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

I've also read that i could try to change the PoolSize in "/engine/config/baseengine.ini" to use higher amounts of memory because it's set to a level that consoles use. Is that worth trying out?

I normally use gamedebate, on that site you can enter your CPU,GPU and RAM and it will tell you what settings your likely to run it at well.

If you log into that site it will also give you an estimated FPS for each setting Game Debate

The game should run good with those spec though, hopefully closer to 50-60. You should not have any problems running the game nicely whatsoever.

ehm, how is this possible? :P

Unless you have a hackable DX11 blah blah blah...

So @Izak80 your system is nice for Bioshock.

Your GPU is very strong and this is 1920 x 1200.

You are going to get a couple FPS so you will be near 60FPS average.

Just don't use AA.

Also you can see that even core i3 and Phenom II X2 can even run this game at 60FPS.

And your CPU at 3,4Ghz is faster.

Have fun with Bioshock Infinite :)

Thnx for all the info, yeah it ran just fine. I've just beaten the game and what an amazing experience it was. Now i've just bought Batman Arkham Asylum. I imagine it won't be as good as Bioshock Infinite but i'm hoping for a couple of hours of fun nevertheless. I would love for some Skyrim but maybe that's pushing my graphicscard to hard :)

Anytime :).

You would be surprised how good is the first of the new batman series, The Arkham Asylum. It has a metacritic score of 91%. Personally I think its the best superhero based videogame and the best action games of the last 5 years.

Also, since your setup was similar to mine, I can guarantee that you can play skyrim at high settings (maybe more) with your setup :).

This picture on the left is with Ivy i7, so as you can see your GPU can run the game at max settings with 50+FPS.

Your O/C CPU will help you in this CPU based game.

I used high settings with my 2,4Ghz Q6600. Your 3,4Ghz Q6600 might be able to Max it.

I tried the game with a GTX 570 and was able to max it out.

Your card is not much weaker than that so it should be fine with max or near max.

Even the 2006 8800GTX can run that game with the highest directx 10 settings at 1600x900.

I don't know that you'll have to tweak much, you should be able to run it pretty high end

@Coseniath: in dx10 with the gtx260, a good amount of effects are reserved for dx11, which 260 cant do but without those effects it was 60 fps at all time, when i upgraded to gtx 660 i gain acess to those effects, aside from some minor lighting improvements it looks identical but the game run like crap.

Oh. You didnt mention the GTX660 part :P.

Yeah you don't need to activate a lot of things. Only a heavy tesselation option can easily kill your GPU power and make your GTX660 to play bioshock worse than GTX260.

@Coseniath: lol i feel stupid, there is no tesselation but somehow the lock framerate option got turned own. Propably when the game detected my new videocard and re-set the graphics options, i manually set them all to maximum but i never noticed the lock framerate option, so the game run on 30 fps. Stil i finished the game before upgrade and i played it for like 10 minutes so i didnt bother checking it further.

It's like buying an airplane and ask yourself later: wait, do I know how to flight it?

Ehh..it's nothing like buying a plane without knowing if you can fly it. As to your question PredatorRules, it was on sale for 4$.

Nah don't be. The last NFS from EA was locked at 30FPS from the day 1 without an option to unlock it. (well not from the game, you can do it manually...)
