YA THEY HIT IT ON THE HEAD.
played a bit yesterday before going to sleep and i can say it was sucking me in pretty good i did set there and listen to the quartet was pretty awesome. They sure werent lying to when they said this game tackles some serious topics. Heres some screen shots i mean this game looks fantastic and runs pretty good as well but the shadows maxed kills my fps had to scale it back a bit.
I'd recommend playing on Hard. To me, medium doesn't feel too challenging, though you do get in a bit of a pickle at some time. Still, amazing presentation and story so far. I'm trying to pace myself so as not to finish the game in one whole day sitting, though I'm 4 hours in and far from halfway through.Â
Some screens (made sure non of them are spoilers).
Fun part where these swinging maniacs chase me around the skyline, like something out of an Indiana Jones movie.
Gen007 here's a hint.
Open up the HTML of your posts and delete the height=XXXX code in each of the pictures. Just set the width=800. Your browser will scale the height appropriately. They look much better while preserving the ability to open up the picture in its full resolution.

I was thinking of using SweetFX for the texture sharpening. Do you have any links to good ones?

Thanks, I'll download when I get home.Â
The game is pretty colorful as it is, I'm glad you didn't bother upping the saturation. I'm wondering if adding SMAA would help with anything.

The last thing the game needs is more vibrance or saturation lol
Feel free to use my Sweet FX as a basis and add some SMAA or experiment with the other settings.
Btw. if you're having Fraps running in background, might be that SFX doesn't work. A workaround is starting the game without it, then alt tab out and start Fraps again
My game runs smooth, constant 60FPS now thanks to rhazzy! :D
Only downside is it doesn't look as good now, but at least it's playable.Â

Ben your sweetFX settings are great, gets rid of that weird white bleaching that appears in some areas, it's a little too dark at times but overall it really makes the game pop
Here is the fix for bioshock infinite I found for the 2 flaws with the pc version that bothered me quite a bit when I first started otherwise its a very solid pc version much better then bioshock 1 & 2 port you can tell they put more effort this time around hopefully there 4th game they will get everything right at launch no tweaking.
1) Bioshock Infinite High Mouse Sensitivity Fix
To fix the super high mouse sensitivity even at lowest sensitivity in game without having to set your mouse to a really low dpi go to C:\Users\"Your User Name"\Documents\My Games\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Config and Open up XUserOptions.ini in a word processor(I just use notepad) and at the top change MinMouseLookSensitivty to something lower the the default 0.1 I use 0.01 gives also change MaxMouseLookSensitivity from the defualt 4.0 to 0.1 to be able to more easily adjust otherwise the you can't really the adjustments you make on the slider since the zone your changing in takes up likes the last %1 of the slider in the menu vs 10%. Its much better now and can play with my usual 1500dpi on my razer lachesis I can only imagine how bad it must be with people who play at higher dpi may need to set these values even lower depending on what sensitivity you like and your mouse dpi
2)Bioshock Infinite Low FOV fix
The Bioshock games have always had fov problems with windscreenand always needed work around that had issues or just didn't work. Bioshock Infinite they set out to changed that and including a fov slider and wide screen users can see more but ironically its still to low imo compared to what I'm used to in pc fps and I'm sure its not just me. To fix it C:\Users\"Your User Name"\Documents\My Games\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Config and XUserOptions.ini and search for MaxUserFOVOffsetPercent and change that to a higher number I personally settled on 80 that's a huge increase and likely way to wide for some people and it does look wierd at times in cutscenes with bookers arms but looks much better to me otherwise. Besides that the only other problem with this is weapon fov is still stuck at something lower i think cause it zoom in alot with iron sights. More then it should I think haven't actually tested it with the default 15 to see if zoom is proportional but personally I like it since it lets you aim better at range with the weapons.

I know there is a sticky on this and we arent allowed to post a new topic but what if we need troubleshooting with the game? this thread is going to become a cluster****
Shamefully, since I'm on Spring Break, I unlocked it last night and beat it in one sitting. This game is incredible, an instant classic. It takes what the original Bioshock did and makes it so much more complex and relevant. I won't spoil the ending for anyone, but you are NOT gonna see it coming. After I beat it I sat there for 5 minutes, staring at my computer screen, trying to comprehend what I just experienced. I tried to go to sleep this morning, but I couldn't stop thinking about the story and how it ends. It is so rich with symbolism and allegory, I feel it's on par with classic literature. Well worth the 60 bucks.DenaliStrat1020

About halfway through the game I was at the 5-6 hour mark, and got so wrapped up in the story that I just kinda powered through it. Took me about 10 hours, but it would have been much longer if I took my time and tried to find more audio logs, explore the city, etc. I'm gonna go play through it again on Hard. I just bought the retail disc version of this game. Â I'm having a problem installing the game. Â It get's stuck at 4662MB during the installation and I end up having to cancel the installation process. Â I don't want to download 17GB and was wondering if I have a bad disc or a bad blu-ray drive, or if it's a bug in the installer of the retail disc version? Â Since it's already tied to my Steam account, I will download it off Steam as a last resort because it will take about 9 hours to download on my internet connection and I have a download cap from my ISP.
Played for a couple of hours, I won't be forgetting the opening ~15 minutes any time soon.Â
They have definitely tightened up the combat from the first two games, playing on hard its frantic and quite fun although I have yet to die.Â
The music that plays during combat reminds me of There Will Be Blood which is awesome.Â

Seems fine for me considering how detailed it all is.
Bioshock Infinite FPS/Frame rate Dip/Drop/Stuttering Fix When loading new parts of map/level
On my rig it runs pretty well...most of the times at 60 fps, occasionally dropping to 50...BUT even those with more powerful rigs than mine have frame rate dips or the framerate are all over the place.
First thing first :
Ingame menu: Dynamic Shadow set it to HIGH, VERY HIGH and ULTRA(DX11) have major fps impact on the game and they are broken on nVidia cards.
Postprocessing set it to NORMAL, ALTERNATIVE(DX11) has major fps impact on the game and it makes little difference(close to NONE)
Lock Framerate set it to OFF...this form of ingame vsync is broken and it will cause a lot of framerate issue.Instead force vSync from nvidia cPanel or CCC panel...or use D3DOverrider to force vsync and triple buffering, since triple buffer works better forced through D3DOverrider!
If you do all of that your game will run better at higher fps...BUT you may still encounter FPS DIPS!
Those FPS DIPS(stutters) occur when entering(re-entering) new areas of the game. You have a stable 60 fps and all of the sudden for a brief period of time(a second or two) your frame rate drops bellow 10(fps), after that the game comes back to 60 fps...but it is very annoying when going back and forward through areas of the game.
This is a well known U3(the graphic engine that Bioshock uses). A good example is Batman: Arkham City...but in Arkham City when you would enter a new area of the game the fps would not drop so drastically...in Bioshock it drops under 10 fps!!!
Here is a fix which will make your fps not to drop that much when entering new zones/areas(on my machine i was going from solid 60 to 5-10 fps for just a second when etering new areas...now it drops only to 30 - 40 and also the time is much shorter...like...just a fraction of a second)
Go to C:\Users\\Documents\my games\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Config
Open XEngine.ini and:
Change bUseBackgroundLevelStreaming to False and bSmoothFrameRate to False, this seems to stop the stuttering when loading.
You can also change OneFrameThreadLag to False and PoolSize...i have set my PoolSize to 1024...but you can play with it to see how well it fits you.Â
rhazzy
And since his thread got locked thought I'd post it here to help other people out to fix the dips in frame rate due to loading of new parts of the map I only used the last part modifying the lines he say in the XEngine.ini and that fixed it for me I already have v-sync turned off in the game and in CCC to not add input lag.
If you have a powerful gpu you don't have to turn off the DX11 effects For Dynamic Shadows Ultra shouldn't be used I don't notice any difference from very high but fps takes a large hit but very high does improve the shadows over low-high(which look the same to me) and my 7950 with 1100mhz core oc can handle it just fine. The DX11 alternate post processing does make a noticeable difference increasing the realism of stuff in the game and my gpu is strong enough to handle it and ambient occlusion should be set to Very high for a small boost in fps as I notice no difference between that and ultra every other setting there is a noticeable difference as you go up.
