Wouldn't rely on it %100. Looks like it's just a marketing scheme by Nvidia.
#3 Posted by jfcundiff (6365 posts) -
I downloaded the drivers, so I am hoping for a bit of a performance boost. And judging by the settings screenshot, my 570 might be able to do a bit of ultra and high at 1680x1050.

Adjustable FoV and Ultra settings, this beta will be awesome :D

#5 Posted by jer_1 (7451 posts) -

Excellent, I got the beta drivers installed. Looks like there are a boatload of settings to tweak once I get in the game. Pretty exciting stuff!

Very nice find, might as well post this, BTW, game supports SLI with the newest Nvidia driver that's out today:

So would a GTX 560 ti rank the same as a GTX 560 on that scale or would it bump it up closer to the GTX 570? I'm not sure where I'd rank in there...

A GTX 560 ti is better than a GTX 560 so it should be closer to High.

^ What about 2 460's? Currently my setup. I'm planning on buying 2 6990's maybe next year. :?

Looking forward to trying the beta

That will easily do High since SLI is supported(and I have 2 GTX 460s as well) and Ultra at various res like around 1920x1080, not sure about 2560x1600.

:o gtx 570 can do high/ultra? That would be nice. I'll know tomorrow assuming we get all those features available to us.
#13 Posted by Code135 (800 posts) -

The tweaking that you can do looks good, but with my GTX 285 now I'm definetly not gonna bother getting BF3 ... oh well :P

Full graphics options! HAHA Awesome I don't have to write my own like I did with Crysis 2!!!!

Equal to/Probably slighty better than a GTX 560 ti, so...

It should be able too. I have one 570 and for comparsion's sake, I can run Crysis 1 and Warhead at 1680x1050 at all Very High (Crysis) and Enthuansist (Warhead) around 40-50 FPS. I do have the AA down to around 4 or less. Same with Bad Company 2. I think a 570 can do a good mix of ultra and high for this game.
#19 Posted by PC360Wii (4658 posts) -
IM thinking of getting 2x 6970's ... is that what a 6990 is? I thought the 6990 and 690 GTX were badly supported....?

Hm for the 6970 does it mean it can do mostly high and some ultra since its shows it branching off?

Yeah. You should be able to do a mix of both high and ultra. Probably also depends on the resolution.
#22 Posted by millerlight89 (18346 posts) -
Yay I can run it!!

Hello ultra :D

What's the framerate though? I have a 570, and I hope thats about 60 FPS at high.

#25 Posted by THA-TODD-BEAST (4569 posts) -

LOL at people using that image as an official benchmark for beta performance. Don't be silly. When you get the beta, tweak the settings to your liking and go with that. There are tons of graphical sliders and options to toggle. It isn't like you're going to be stuck with All Low, All Medium, All High, etc.

#26 Posted by R4gn4r0k (16254 posts) -

Your ATI card is insufficient please buy an nvidia one

Full graphics options! HAHA Awesome I don't have to write my own like I did with Crysis 2!!!!

Wasdie

Awesome isn't it. Now you have more time to play the game :D

#27 Posted by IvanElk (3798 posts) -
Awesome built in FoV settings, I always hated having to go into the config file to change it.

I feel the same way. The 570 superclocked under performs a 580 by like 7-10fps on average. I'm for sure gonna be doin 1080p on ultra with my 570 based on that screen ^ I bet I can get at least 30fps minimum on ultra.
#29 Posted by DarkblueNinja (963 posts) -

To all people with Nvidia card You can now download a Beta Drive for BF3 that Increases performance in Battlefield 3 by up to 38%. its the version 285.38. Link ---> http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-uk

#30 Posted by arto1223 (4404 posts) -

Awwww... Thy have settings for FoV and motion blur (which is nice) but not an option to turn bloom off. At least we can turn it of in the games files (I hope).

#31 Posted by klusps (10381 posts) -

...so when does the AMD drivers come out?

#32 Posted by Elann2008 (32953 posts) -

Marketing scheme or not, at least they're providing up to date driver support which can only please most of us Nvidia users. Whether it warrants 38% or 5%, what does it matter? A gain is a gain. As long as it's stable and optimized well, I could care less.

My gtx460 is overclocked to 850mhz which works like a default gtx480 so I should be able to play on High/Ultra with a few tweaks on 1920x1080.

Can I run this game with a Radeon 5670?

Yea probably a mix of low and medium.
#36 Posted by Shadowhawk000 (3453 posts) -
How well would it run on a 4850?
#37 Posted by PC360Wii (4658 posts) -
In all honesty though this is pointless.... and us asking about it is pointless... the beta starts THIS WEEK...... that will be our answer.
#38 Posted by with_teeth26 (6025 posts) -

I'm hoping to pull high with my 5850PCS+ at 1600x900 once I upgrade my CPU.

#39 Posted by biggest_loser (24011 posts) -

lol i love how it only analyses the recommended settings. It told me to buy a new computer :(

Can someone tell me what frames you get playing the game on low?

Could you get around 30 FPS? :(

#40 Posted by cabose38 (1162 posts) -

I just love how Nvidia is in bed with EA.

If a 560 can do high with 1680x1050, then my 6870 should too, dammit.

#41 Posted by ShadowDeathX (10563 posts) -
Hopefully SLI scales super well....I want that Ultra!!!
#42 Posted by GTSaiyanjin2 (5753 posts) -

Make sure to get the beta drivers.... the 285 ones

#43 Posted by DevilMightCry (3475 posts) -

I am going to max this **** out. Not on 1920x1080 @ 60 fp/s offcourse... but a solid 30fp/s should be fine if cf and ski are optimized well.

With your setup, should be maxing it out, 60fps, period. I don't see why not.

Missing bloom option like BC2 ... well looks like my BC2 Launcher/Configurator tool needs to be ported to BF3 to reveal some hidden settings.

The bloom in BC2 kills me! Makes it impossible to see...

I really wish BF3 will let you turn it down/off.

I think some developers do not like the idea of having a bloom effect options because some of their levels and environments hone more to it. Of course, we're talking about outdoor environments. Indoor environments suffer badly from it especially when some lighting like a lamp or light bulb magically illuminates and blurs the entire room with "lighting fog." Imho, there should always be an option for bloom if they're going to put everything else in the graphics options.

Oh it will, I have 0 doubt about that one. BC2 has amazing SLI support, and it uses 98% of both of my GPUs and I get double the performance. That wasn't made with PCs in mind first, and this one is. I don't think multi-gpu owners have anything to worry about.

I second this. BC2 ran very well with sli (2x GTX 460 1GB). BF3 will probably be better optimized. The dogfights should be grand. :)
