Hey guys, I'm not a huge computer gamer but I like to keep my computer in good shape. I just got the Lord of the Rings Online and realized that my Radeon 9600 isn't quite upto the task of providing the high end graphics. I have a 3ghz P4, and 1.5 GB Ram. I believe my Card is only 64mb though so I think that's where the problem lies. I was just wondering if any of you tech savy comp users had any preference on video cards and such. I'd like to be able to play crysis in the future, but also remain affordable.

Yes! Get the 8800GTS anything else these days isn't going to cut it for future games.

You have to buy a new computer if you even want to play Crysis at a decent fps. From what I see you have an AGP motherboard, so you better start saving for a new computer. Or you could wait for an HD ATI 2900 AGP card, which I think will come out...eventually. Or get an AGP 1900 series.

Also, what the other two posts FAIL TO REALIZE is that you don't have a PCI-E slot.

throw in an extra 30 and you can get the 8800GTS 320mb

If not, go buy a 8600 GTS 256mb

Its not as good, but it'll cut it.

He's using a Radeon 9600, he has an AGP slot.

The X1950 PRO is your best bet rocktimusprime.

Get the 8800gts the 7950 can't play dx10 games doesnt seem like much now but come September when the dx10 games come out it will mean alot. and the 8800gts is faster than the 7950 even on dx9 games. on crysis the 8800gtx maxs it out so the 8800gts will play it on high settings easy.

Since when were the 8 series a prerequisite to play Crysis in DX9? Your suggestion will run him up more than his 300 dollar limit, oh and he has to change his ram unless he gets those ugly ddr1 hybrid boards. The 7950GT/1950XT are more than enough for all intents and purposes, so unless he wants a complete overhaul, that one hardware change will suffice.Â
