Just wanted to know if there's any good Empire building RTS out there.

I've tried The Settlers and Age of Empires 3 (demo) and they are both pretty good but Age of Empires just doesn't catch my attention for some reason.

P.S. Should I try the full version of AoE3?

Age Of Empire Rise Of Rome is the best RTS game I've ever played but it's very OLD.

Also I like C&C3 TW but that game is Modern

No. You're on the right track playing demos. If you don't like AoE 3 then don't buy it. Simple as that. The market for RTS games has changed over the years. They have made more games now that you dosen't focus on building a base as much. Now they want you to explore more and fight more. Which results in less bulidling empires and more on fighting. Which is good for some, but not for others.

I suggest you check out:

AoE is probably the best RTS I've ever played, and ever will play. Dawn of War is also a pretty good one

Also DoW: Dark Crusade is another good RTS that will possibly catch my attention more then AoE did, but that's a big shoe to fill.

Age of Mythology and AOEII. AOE3 is good, but if you don't like AOM or AOEII you won't like it.

My favorite of all time is Age of Empires 2, but it's a bit outdated by now... Rise of Nations fills in the blank nicely, and Rise of Legends I liked a lot less than RoN. Besides that, most of the Total War games I've loved... though if you want pure real-time, you might not like the turn-based Risk half of the game. I actually much preferred that.

the Total War series, hands down.

or Rise of Nations (for the "build up resorces and have your little doodies fight it out" type RTS.)

In Medieval Total War 2, the agents (spies, assasins & merchants especially) are fun to play with in the turn based 'Risk' portion of the map.

M2 Total War gets my vote.

If you want a good series, i would suggest the rise of nations/rise of legends, another good series are the total war games. as far as empire building goes. They are not Pure RTS but more rts/tb hybreds.

AoE3 isn't worth it ...played it, ur better off paling AOE1

As far as empire building RTS goes I can only think of Europa Universalis and Hearts Of Iron, now thats empire building, oh yaeh and medieval2 isn't bad at all tough its a TB and RTS...C&C series??? thats not empire building thats just pure rts smack fun...rise of nations is a bit weird...gets boring in the long run but thats just my opinion

But the best empire building game is by far civ3 or civ4 if ur paling in lan against a friend...much more fun

Medieval 2 Total War with the Kingdoms expansion pack will keep you busy for a long time. If you have not played the older Total War titles than Rome Total War is also awesome... The Total War Era's box set is a rather good spot to start. All recent strategy games (other than Total War) has been more action based.

Company of Heroes and Dawn of War from Relic as well as Supreme Commander from Gas Powered Games are all great RTS's and Command and Conquer 3 is okay as well... but Empire Builders are rare now-a-days. I don't know if Strategy gamers has become lazy or dumb? Either way, the Total War series is the only option for old school strategy gamers.

As for the Age of Empires series, not really empire builders. Well, not AoE3 anyway (the first two was cool)... I loved the old Setlers games (when they were still cartoonish), but the lastone (and what I have seen of the new one) didn't impress me.

I know it's not an RTS but the Civilisation series is hands down the best empire building game I've ever played. It's turn based rather than RT but if you've ever played it you'll know that "one-more-turn-itis" is a real disease. Civ 4 is the latest and by far the most consuming...

Total War, Knights Of Honor, Europa Universalis & co. (there's a bunch of spin off games which use the same engine).

I'm sure there's more, can't think of any right now though :P

Wow, you couldn't have been more wrong. AOE 3 sucks, and if you DID like aoe 2 and aoe 1, you won't like it. Aoe 3 took everything that made 1&2 good and destroyed it... and I don't even count AOM a part of the series since it's a mistake too.

I agree. AoE3 is a lot diffrent then the past AoE games. They should of just called it Age of empires the New World or something like that.

Once again I thinks its very clear here that you should try rise of nations and expansion for an old school style rts.

If you are interested in No bases and just handeling Large armies then check out the Total War series.

Keep playing demos though. They are so many RTS games out there.

Zeus: Master of Olympus might suit your taste. It's pretty old (2001) but still is, to my opinion, the best city building game ever made.
