BC2 is far greater in some areas. But the actual gunplay in BF3 is miles ahead of any other game in the series. BC2 had better themed and designed maps though
I think Bad Company 2 was a better game. The shooting is easy to understand and master in Bad Company. The gunplay in Battlefield 3 just feels so random and weird to me.
Also jets are dumb and control horribly.

Actually i thank DICE for not making shooting too easy (like COD)..

Translation - Battlefield 3 has a learning curve and Eff that!
BF3 is the far better game. The one edge BFBC2 has is class balance. Its was a lot better in that game. But every other aspect from map design (premium member), to gun play, to fidelity (both visual and audio) is vastly superior to Bad Company 2.
BC2 is not even in the same league as BF3
BF3's shooting mechanics, client side hit detection, and netcode is miles ahead of BC2's.
The shooting is always consistent, while BC2 doesn't have hit detection.
this. bc2's hit detection is the worst i've seen in any game. i had to quit right as i hit level 50 because of how frustrating it was.BC2 is not even in the same league as BF3

Side strafing is still inconsistant with a LOT of the guns even some of the assault rifles and carbines. Only the pdws and bulpups are consistant.
I will say this. Suppression is incredibly flawed and pisses me off regularly. I still like the concept and some of the execution but things NEED to change with BF4.

Suppression is a good idea but it was horribly implemented. And has never been right since that infamous suppression pacth where it made shooting impossible.
I don't know how to remedy it myself but I'm sure there is a better way to add it to BF4
Bad Company 2, it actually felt lke you were playing as part of a team rather than a bunch of individuals running around doing their own thing. I also liked the damage model better in BC 2, I actually knew how many shots would drop someone in a duel, rather than in BF3 where due to the crazy hit reg you might get seemingly 1-shotted when it looks to the other person like they have been shooting you all day.

I'd say use guns that have very little recoil at first to get used to the tactics of the game so you can later concentrate on getting better with a variety of guns.
Go for the G36C, SKS, P90, and M5K. Those guns are very forgiving as far as recoil is concerned. They also can maintain a degree of accuracy when you're under suppresion.
I'll just judge them in most areas:
Knifing=BC2
Gunplay=BF3
Graphics=BF3 obviously
Sound=About equal
Content=BF3
Fun factor=BC2
Classes=BC2
Conquest=BF3
Rush=BC2
Game that will frustrate you less=BC2
TBH though both games have a lot of BS BC2 is the more fun game while BF3 is the more polished game. Funny enough both games have worse hit detection than BC1 which to me was as perfect as it gets for a Battlefield game.

BF3s is orders of magnitude better from a sheer technical standpoint. It is factually better. Though if you prefer the more hollywood boomy sound of BC2 that's pure personal taste. Though after studying sound engineering for 2 and a half years, BF3s sound is incredible to listen to and makes BC2s look like childsplay.
One thing I preferred in BC2 sound though was the exaggerated sniper rifle sounds. They're more realistic in BF3, but they had that sweet sound in BC2 with a huge deafening crack
Client side hit detection sounds like utter poop and worse gameplay to me bud. I die because of some laggy guy sees me even though I've actually already taken cover on my screen? There's a good reason why competitive games don't use that stupid **** :PBC2 is not even in the same league as BF3

The guns control in BF3 is actually something that requires learning and skill to counteract. BC2 it was just point and shoot more akin to CoD. BF3 has the best recoiling weapons in any game. Every gun handles differently
BC2 was nothing as simple as pointing and shooting like Call of Duty. It was about judging the distance of the target and firing in small bursts. If you went full auto all the time like Call of Duty, then you would never hit anything. Battlefield 3 felt more like Call of Duty to me.

This, BC2's guns had bullet drop, COD just lets you spray most of the time.There is about 600-800 people playing right now.OOC: Is there even a community still going on for the multiplayer in BBC2?

I said it was more like CoD, I didn't say it was the same.
BF3 has far greater ballistics than BC2s. BC2 didn't have the spray and spread of bullets like BF3 does. LMGs kick like mules and spread all over the place and every single gun handles differently. In BC2 there were guns that were very similar. The M16 and AN 94 were very much alike for example, they just had different damage models.

Bad Company 2 had some pretty severe spread on the bullets if you held the trigger down to long. I didn't think Battlefield 3 did anything better in that part. You say that all the weapons are different, but I honestly don't see a dramatic difference. Most of the weapons are actually pretty bad and aren't worth the time to learn.

Hmm, I distinctly remember being impressed by BC2's sound design. I loved that when you went into a building there was that really nice sounding echo. I also stuck a sub woofer at my feet so that standing near a tank would shake my feet and rock the table when it fired. I'd hear APCs dishing it out on the other side of the map. The crack of bullets passing over my head.I honestly don't remember BF3 having nearly as enjoyable sound effects (even though they may be more releastic, as you said). Although, it may just be that BF2142->BC2 was a huge step up in sound design that BC2->BF3 wasn't even noticeable for me.
On the overall scale, I prefer BC2 for the competitive gunplay and class/balance that promotes teamwork/skill over luck. BF3's weapon mechanics were too random and lowered the skill ceiling drastically. For a majority of engagements, you were just better off holding down the trigger instead of using single fire or burst fire. Combined with suppression, most fights became absurdly frustrating with both parties unloading entire clips and neither of them landing hits. BF3 would have been miles better without the suppression system or at least limited it to bipod or heavy weapons (tank HMG, etc). Imagine the secondary gunner position on a tank being used to suppress RPG teams, instead of boiling down gun fights to just dumb luck. The damage scheme felt punishing to players who played the objective and exaggerated the downfalls of client side hit detection. I also really, really hate the vehicle unlocks in BF3. Default vehicles might as well be made of paper and shoot giant fluff balls at enemies. And, my god, the number of lock on weapons in this game.... Seriously, in BC2 you could have strong vehicles because good players would be able to counter them with skill based weapons. In BF2142, you could steal/hold enemy vehicles and it would almost guarantee you the win because they were power weapons. Capturing key points would also remove these vehicles (STRATEGY!). As much as they try, DICE will never be able to find a good balance between lock on weapons and vehicles. The destruction was also toned down for BF3, which some people like, but I despise. I want to ram my tank through a ****ing house, dammit DICE, that's battlefield.
It's tough for me to recommend either because almost every iteration of battlefield I play, I prefer the previous iteration.The theme song for BF1942 still gets my blood pumping. I will say that BF3 was the first BF game that I actually got too bored and too frustrated with to keep playing and it caused me to lose interest in the entire series; I doubt I will be picking up BF4 unless DICE really steps it up for their next game with much better map design (more strategy), more powerful vehicles, better gunplay, better class system that promotes teamwork, and server side hit detection or automatic kicks for high pings.
Playing hardcore in BC2 and figuring out about the spaz + magnum rounds ruined the mp for me. It became entirely to easy to play.
Client side hit detection sounds like utter poop and worse gameplay to me bud. I die because of some laggy guy sees me even though I've actually already taken cover on my screen? There's a good reason why competitive games don't use that stupid **** :P[QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]

BF3's hit detection always consistent.It always hits where I fire provided I'm not supressed.

Quake Live if someone is lagging, they have a significant advantage. Same for all source/goldsrc games.

None of that poorly typed drivel slightly represents a response to the phenomena explained in my post due to the poor netcode design in BF3. But if that's the best response you can muster up... At least I've never been killed after taking cover in CS:S or CS:GO. :P And that's only the least of it. I'd figure someone who is so competitive would care about the net code slightly more.Please Log In to post.
