Hello, so i got Assassins Creed Unity recently and the game runs like total shit?! I have a decent setup and even with Crossfire i can only get about 20-25FPS on hight with 1080p with Fraps which is ridiculous because i run much better looking games at a lot higher frames...Anyone else has the same problem running this game ?

I don't know why people complain.

I can run the game at around 70fps average at Ultra High 1440p.

No idea why you would Crossfire 2 mid-range GPU's, when you could have got 1 high-end GPU.

I saw a guy with 3-Way SLI GTX 980's complaining about it running really shitty. So yeah blame the devs.

Looks like this game has trouble with SLI/Crossfire.

On my specs (single GPU) I ran it fine all the way through. It just slowed down in some places where it shouldn't have and hopefully the patches have fixed that.

It seems like, they released a half finished game. Anyways if I ever get a chance to get it for free or really cheap, I'll give it a shot.

it was funny, that system now as a 4890 in it, I happened to have two 5450 cards and got curious to what they could. The answer was not much.

Well yeah you combine two weak card together imperfectly you get one slightly less weak card!

it crossfired really well, pretty much doubled performance, however double a 5450 is still not much. Played Far Cry 2 at 720p high settings at 30fps(ish)

problem 1. Game is badly optimized for everyone

problem 2. Its particularly bad on AMD gpu's for now ( not that nvidia GPU's have it much better but it seems it runs somewhat better on equivalent nvidia gpu's

7870 is mid-high end, the only 2 GPU's above that were the 7950/70 (yeah I'm not gonna list Nvidia for the purposes of this), the 270x is mid-end at best, there's 280x/285x/290x and then we have the non-x cards which can also be oc'd. Also its Ubisoft... have they made a good PC game since FC2? (FC3 is a hit and miss with some setups).

You are right, I'm not gonna say thats its not a mid end card. I wasn't arguing to say that its not. The only reason I upgraded from mine was because of vram, 2GB wasn't enough. Had they made a 4GB version before the R series, I would probably still be using them in the main rig. And the upper cards are pretty good, so I won't argue about those either. I was set on getting a 290, before I saw what the 970 was capable of.

Ubi really needs to get things right. They have good ideas and would be games imo, but they always find a way to ruin them. Instead of trying to release a game every year, I think they should extend that to give the devs more time to polish and fix the games.

In game benchmarks I've seen a GTX 780 beat crossfire 7870s let alone a GTX 970 which is closer to a 780ti.

The problem I seen with my old scores has to be with my hdd. I noticed people with the same set up getting a much better score than me and the only difference they had over me was a ssd.

And as for the 780 its pretty powerful and still really good. Of course I expect it to beat a pair of 7870's. But don't be fooled by a 970 either, it can still challenge the other cards. My card is closing in on 1600mhz on the core.

I still haven't reached the max limit for my card and I last tested 1550mhz on the core. No memory OC yet.

@kitty: Yah I have 2 GTX 970s and can get them to around 1560mhz together and 1600mhz when only one card is used.

I don't even need to touch the voltage on them either.

At that much of an oc they can rival the GTX 980 and surpass it in some cases.

The 980 is around 15-20% better than the 780ti.

False. Sli 980's run the game at 89 fps average with a reported low of 80 in this benchmark.

And False. With the game completely maxed at 1080p, everyone with a 780 sli or higher does not see below 60 frames. Turn AA off and a single 970 averages 61 frames while others start to hit the 100's.

Proof

Or you all could actually watch the video evidence that @RyviusARC posted.

Also people need to start looking more at the CPU's instead of focusing on GPU's. There is a 35fps difference between the 2500K and the 5960X. That is basically the same difference between a 680 and a 980 on the GPU side of things. And lol AMD. Folks may want to consider buying new chipsets.....

Quick, everyone go out and drop $1k on a CPU so you can play a game that's not well optimized to run on anything except top end hardware! What's the point of already having hardware that's already more powerful than what the X1 or PS4 has?....it's still not good enough to play this game!

I know that's what I'm going to do instead of paying my mortage and utilities for the month of December! Yeah me....Marry Christmas to myself!

No, scratch that. I'm not going to pay daycare for my kids while I go to work - the 6 and 2 year old kids can stay at home alone for the next few weeks. [/sarcasm]

The point people are having is that the hardware in PCs is leaps and bounds better than what the X1 and PS4 (for most PC gamers) and the game runs poorly (worse than it should on higher end hardware). No one should have to spend thousands of dollars on any kind of gaming device to play a game well enough to allow functionality on a standard monitor that runs 60Hz.

lol its that old already well you actually beat my current gpu at the moment till i fix my main pc have a mobile AMD 4250 in the laptop I am using. :( I had forgotten what its like playing games at at all low settings at 640x480 just to get them to run I can tell you its not a nice experience but my ssd comes in today so I shall ascend back to enjoying games maxed out in glorious 1080p 60fps soon enough!

Ok so your examples of "not paying your mortage" and "not sending your kids to daycare" are quite far fetched but not uncommon on video game forums. I didn't have to do any of those things when I built my PC. And I'm sure that the majority of those with high end rigs didn't either. You don't have to do an entire rig overhaul every year....My point was that people are saying the game runs poorly on 980 sli rigs and that is not true.

If the price of a rig on that level isn't in the budget for you then fine. But to dismiss those that are playing the game over 60fps at resolutions higher than 1080p is ridiculous. And this year we have started to see the recommended specs of PC games rising. If you can't max Unity then do you think you will max The Witcher 3? Evolve? Star Citizen? The Division?

And sure there are many people who probably can't max AC Unity even at 1080p. But lets not forget the consoles are sub 1080p sub 30fps. And we will continue to see more sub 1080p, 30fps or below console games in the future.

Well yeah you combine two weak card together imperfectly you get one slightly less weak card!

HEY! stop badmouthing my 4 year old GPU!

On-Topic: Don't fret, AC Unity is just an unoptimized heap of dung. Haven't played it yet tho but that's what Iv'e heard. The size alone *insert 37 gigs* explains enough.

lol its that old already well you actually beat my current gpu at the moment till i fix my main pc have a mobile AMD 4250 in the laptop I am using. :( I had forgotten what its like playing games at at all low settings at 640x480 just to get them to run I can tell you its not a nice experience but my ssd comes in today so I shall ascend back to enjoying games maxed out in glorious 1080p 60fps soon enough!

LOL.. the struggle iz real I know.

I almost bought this yesterday, but after all the PC Port complaints I left it alone. Ubisoft was doing a b1g1 sale. So I was thinking about this with Black Flag.

I was being facetious.

You stated that a high end CPU may be what's holding things back and not so much a high end GPU. There is a big difference between an i5-2500k (released about 4 years ago now) 4 core CPU and a current $1k 8-core i7-5690x, however, both are vastly better/faster than the 8core Jaguar the PS4/X1 house. I simply implied no one should have to drop $1k on a CPU to allow a game to function well when you have CPUs that have been out for a while that are better than what the X1 and PS4 have - let alone the better GPUs that most gamers have as well.

Anyone expecting folks to spend so much money on a high(er) end gaming PC to play something that was made to play on the current gen consoles is a joke. Granted the console versions are generally sub 1080p/30fps - it shouldn't be hard to have a decent gaming engine (they do exist) that is coded well to function on consoles and then to scale well on higher end PCs.

It shouldn't be far fetched to have folks with high end rigs expecting to be able to play the game at a stable, acceptable level. I do think some people have outrageous expectations, but releasing a buggy game that runs poorly (albeit not on all system configurations) is bad form.

Nice. I'm hoping I can get to where you are then, but if not that's fine. I'm happy with what it can do.

Same here, I haven't touched the voltage either. I also notice that I'm still not reaching the max TDP either.

With two and a OC like that, you can do 4k right?
