Hello, this thread is about asking "how good is my PC?" because I am pretty sure that there are a lot of people like myself who know nothing about PC. I just ask that dont post your PC specs with the previous hasn't had a reply, this is so we know who we are talking to.

So, how good is my pc?

CPU: Intel Celeron Dual Core G1830 (2.80 GHz, 2MB Cache)+ HD Graph

Motherboard: Gigabyte H81M-DS2V Micro-ATX, LG1150, USB3.0, SATA 6GBs

Memory (RAM): 4GB KINGSTON DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (1 x 4GB)

Graphics Card: 2GB AMD Radeon R7 250

This is a budget option

The GPU is weak (R9 250 is weaker than a 7750) and the cpu isn't god awful but I wouldn't recommended anything less than i5 or an FX 6100/6300.I

If your not super picky with settings and moneys tight, then a phenom X4 or FX-4300 is the absolute lowest I would ever go

If you can't pull off a better CPU with your budget then ditch the graphics card, get a better CPU, and just get a video card later.

It's a sh^tty gaming rig, I can build you a fair one for over 500$, but that depends on your requirements on what games do you wish to run and on which graphic settings and the longlivity of those graphics to be in the future years.

That CPU & GPU are both busted! Your "PC" is doomed... save up at least like, $600 and build yourself a new one, it's easy.

Then you need to list budget, country, and if you want pre-built or build it yourself.

I need to upgrade my HDD, can't even name it. It's that old. it is 580GB though. How much speed does a new hard drive add to loading times?

I really need to upgrade my PC, it seems like it's aging pretty fast, but I've had it since 2009 (everything except the 550).

I do agree the prices are alsmot the same, the 280X OC gets to 770 stock performances and the 760 superclocked which I've listed does the same so, it doesn't really matter.

Yeah this will run crysis 3 maxed out full AA. everything! lol JK

@PcGamingRig: dont quote me on this, but i believe that a hard drive doesn't have any effect on the perfomance, its all about the RAM in terms of memory.

280X and 770 are almost identical performance, 760 is a tier below. It makes no sense to pay the same for less.

280X is over 20% faster in BF3

It's also 25% faster in Crysis 3, and almost 30% faster in Metro.

An SSD will boot up your OS much quicker than a HDD

Again, that's not the case when you OC a 760.

Only if you add another one in SLI, but seriously you're pretty much ready to game on 4k display on 30fps max graphics, add another one and it's a 60fps.

I have considered upgrading my GPU, but the old 6870 is still tearing through my games at max. However, I am playing older games due to my backlog.

Only thing I would think of would be load times which really aren't that big an issue on PC to begin with.

Not much to say, that you did'nt cover yourself. Your PSU looks to be below bronze rating, so you could get something more power efficient and you touched upon the GPU yourself.

Yeah because only the 760 can be overclocked, right.

AMD GPUs got little to OC, except for 290.

Wut? You can OC a 280/7970 by 20%. My old 7970 OC'd 30%.

On Windows vista 32bit.

Had the computer almost 7years and was top of the line back then since then added 2gigs ram (Only uses about 3.7gigs) And new videocard since old one died, now have Evga gtx 650 TI.

Still run games at max or near max only flaws is games that ask for 4gigs minimum and never formatted hd so takes me a good 4-5 mins to bootup.

I usually keep it @ 1080p and typically don't have any issues with higher settings on games.

Yeah the 6870 heck of a card, regardless and otherwise you have a solid machine! How much of that memory does Adobe take up at any one time?

Once I was working across dreamweaver, illustrator, idesign, photoshop with a video and a web browser running in the background, and I think I had peak usage of like 5.64 GB or something like that. As far as gaming is concerned, I am not sure what my peak usage has been. I know when I was playing Skyrim with a bunch of graphics mods (and I mean a lot), it surely went over 6 GB in peak usage. Other than that, I would imagine 8 GB maybe 12 GB would be more than enough. I strongly overestimated what future games will require and the needs of Adobe products (at least for my purposes).

Blazn managed to OC his old 7970 quite a lot as well. I think they go far as long as you have decent cooler on it.

Well you're probably right if the price is the same then it's the 280X, but I saw few reviews and the SC 760 gets pretty close to 7970 performance.

Why would you need an upgrade if you have quad SLI. You'll be straight for a while still!

04dcarraher has his 760 OC'd to 770 standards, I believe.
I think, he's @ 1.3GHz and around 7000-7200mhz mem.

Must be awful OC of the 7970/280X it has been tested against. Or not playing at higher than 1080P...

The only thing I see, is the gpu :P But if it's still running things pretty well for you, then you could wait. But I'd be looking at 280x, gtx 760, gtx 770. Everything else in the build looks nice.

pc is not as bad as everyone says, allthough you could do better in the cpu departement, games that use four cores can be a drag on this system. But not all games use four cores that extensively, battlefield does for instance.

The videocard performs the same as a 7750.

As you bought a budget system i would have said, better went for an amd cpu, they give you a better bang for your buck at lower price ranges.

The upside is that you can upgrade your cpu (or the gpu for that matter) but the most important part will be the cpu. Save some money and put a nice quad core in there. Cheapest one is around 180$ i think.
