Would a jump like that even be worth the $120? It does jump me up to 3.2ghz from 2.6 on my current cpu.

My current specs are...

X2 5200+ 2.6hz || 4gig DDR2 PC6400 || evga 9800GTX+ || Seagate 320GB SATA 7200 || Audigy 2

If this isn't worth the money, I'll just wait it out another year or so and get a quad core.

I have an AMD X2 4200 that I am going to overclock this weekend. I also have an 8800 GT between the two (and I dont play crisis) I havent had any performance issues. So I wouldnt bother in your case. Save your money and in a year or two change systems.

Money isn't a problem, but I dont want to throw down $400 for a new motherboard and CPU if my only benefit will be Crysis.

Crysis is a little suck on my computer. And I'm 99% positive the CPU is the bottleneck. From the looks of it, my next upgrade will be steering me away from AMD.

not noly crisis if yuo paly 1280x1024 native resolution and it show that game like cryisis are huge game in take.
IF you want a good upgrade 140$ = mobo : 150$ = cpu : after mkaret cooler = 40$ : overclock. BAMM ! you rock

it not like if you where gonna play 1680x1050 or 1600x1200 or. 1920x1200
And obivously not a 2560x1600 before 2015 unless you win loterry :D
but my point is it depend of what resolution you game. il show you another review errr

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wolfdale-shrinks-transistors,1773-6.html

with overlcock you can get 15fps to 30fps extra with nice cooling and : 45fps + if Exterme Water cooling specialist or Mineral water tank

take note most of review based on not the best video card for cpu review so you would get more fps with a better video card
but it give you a idea. that cpu bottleneck beetween video card
it true that even if you have a amd. and put a 4870x2 you will get more power then if you ad only a singel 4870 but the true is adding a new cpu / motherboard can often become extra 60fps. over amd dual core series

here a proof
http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=770&p=11

it why i swhteced from my 4600x2 to dual core E8600 in sales. of 30$ so i was paying a total of 75$ include tax over E8500
in canada. 230$ Vs 299$. better overclocking and more stable so i guess better lifespawn bough that.

but for you who want to save moeny a P45 From Asus PRO & a E8400 at 150$ or E8500 at 175$ you can get it overlcock
with any after market cooler but for long lifespawn and less overheat issue. you could get a 25-40$ cooler.

if so. then just post when you'r ready to buy or i can put the part together over newegg to help you may ur pc being stronger:D

yep it much more then E7200 i keep remind that to people E7200 was made for Extremely low budget pc builder
since E7200 = 125$-130$ : E8400 150$
intel can lie. a seller can lie
a benchmark like i shown you hardly lie

When the AMD X2 5600+ (2.8MHz) came out, I picked one up and upgraded from my X2 3800+ (which I oc'ed from 1.81 to 2.41 - water cooling; probably could have pushed it higher, but I wasn't comfortable doing so). I needed something that wasn't holding back my 8800GTS 640MB card so much.

I spent about $160 on the new CPU and I saw a considerable improvement on stock clock - my 3DMark06 score jumped from low 8k to mid 10k and I pushed it into the 11k when I oc'ed my CPU to 3.01MHz.

When Crysis came out (before the patches), I could play with everything on medium settings and pull 28-40fps. Once the game was patched to perform better, I moved all my settings to high except for a couple and was getting around the same FPS. This is with the 5600+.

Then I traded in my EVGA 8800GTS 640MB card for the 512MB version that runs quite a bit faster and I got a new 22" monitor and play with a 1680 x 1050 resolution with all settings on high. I get a good solid 30-35fps.

So, in your case, I wouldn't bother with the CPU upgrade unless that is your only option. If you can save up a bit more and pickup a high end duo-core Intel or a decent quad-core and new MB....I'd wait it out and go this route.
