Known Issues:

  • Item locked in hands slot
  • Items can't be picked up sometimes

  • Ghillie will probably react badly on chemlight, flare and other light sources
  • Some items will freeze in midair when you throw them multiple times in a row
  • Some items will visually duplicate themselves if used from the ground

Can someone reply to me and tell me why this game scored such shit scored initially? I seen some gameplay footage and it looks fun. Maybe I'll wait for it to come to ps4 so it can be more complete by then.

@mikehockbourns: Peoples expectations were just wrong. They expected a finished game when it was very early alpha.

Scores? Lol. This game is in alpha. Anyone scoring an alpha is also busy smoking illicit drugs - I wouldn't listen them.

I'm kinda mind-blown that it took them more than a year to implement features that were so basic in the mod. I guess better late than never though. My friends that bought this on steam refuse to play the stand-alone, but they all still play the mod, bahahahaha!

Well that's a side-effect of reintegrating all the game's features from the ground up rather than re-using ArmA 2 assets. All good things take time. Besides - it already has a million features that the mod doesn't have which elevate it way beyond.

I'm hyped for the new renderer. I'd also love it if they fixed a few insta-death bugs as well as character-wipes upon logins, but that might not come for awhile. I can't remember the last time I actually lost my character to something other than a bug.

Nice!! haha I still have this game in my library. But I probably won't be playing too much more until it's closer to finished! The glitches just made it too difficult for me to play and I just didn't have the patience. I like the game when things work, not so much when zombies are clipping through everything hahaha

It's been since the summer since I've last played, so a lot could have changed in the time. Still, it's cool to see more features being implemented!

Don't care. The fact this game is just now getting shit like this is pathetic. I heard about this being in development over a year ago and so far all I've seen is a game not even worthy of high end mod status. Have it in my steam library but after getting into it a few months ago I quickly realized this game is going no where real fast.

The game has changed a lot in the last few months. I'm not sure how you think it's "going nowhere fast", every patch implements dozens of new things and fixes. Vehicles have always been a relatively minor part of the DayZ experience, if you're weighing their development ability based on how long it took them to implement a vehicle, I'd say you have no idea as to the context of what's actually going on in the game's development (or the goals of the game itself). Vehicles are rare and hard to acquire. They've been busy working on the survival/infantry aspect - you know, the meat of the game? I played the DayZ mod since its inception and consistently played it until the release of standalone, I can count the amount of times I've found a vehicle in the mod on one hand.

Is it my imagination that the graphics improved a little while ago, cuz I swear it looks a lot clearer and nicer than it did. Maybe it's my swift.

Probably the monitor. I'm always impressed with DayZ Standalone's graphics (with post-processing on low). It's quite inconsistent but every once in awhile I catch myself out in the foresty wilderness or up atop some big city and think "Damn this game looks good for how massive it is". I have confidence that the new rendering engine will clean up the inconsistencies a lot and introduce some modern lighting which will greatly help out some of the game's visual weaknesses. Should run a lot better too. Hopefully things server-side get optimized enough so we can start getting 100+ player servers going so it's less of a ghost town. In a year, this game will be tits.

EDIT: Also the real star of this patch is the ghillie suit. I don't care that much for vehicles, but I do care for my ghillie suit. Once they add the ability to do drive-bys then I will be all over vehicles.

If by persistence you mean driving along happily, the server restarts and you're left stranded in the middle of nowhere with no vehicle wondering what happened. :(

It's just whether one spawns at the relevant spawn point. You can find the spawn points online.

I was making a "The Walking Dead" joke. The TV series is sponsored by Hyundai and many of the vehicles driven by the main characters are conspicuously clean Hyundai hatchbacks.

You mean "soaking up the spotlight?". It's been on the top-seller list on Steam for a year (usually around #1) - and about to sell its 3 millionth copy. Dean used his experience leading the project to start his own team (you know, so he isn't borrowing Bohemia's) so he can start a game that's totally his own. Being mostly the game's spokesperson, it will continue to develop without him - Dean was there to provide direction for the programming crew and they already have the development roadmap completely laid out so I'm sure there are more productive things for Dean to do than twiddle his thumbs.

It might be hard to grasp, but people who do game development often make multiple games and go from project to project rather than working on one or two things for their whole career.
