Rig I'm thinking about buying currently has a 660ti in it. I am thinking about selling the card (probably ~125) and upgrading. My budget would be around $220.

Is there a GPU at that price point that is worth upgrading to? Or would I be better suited by simply waiting another year or two and upgrading then?

Specs of potential buy:

PU: Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: MSI B75MA-E33 Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard

Memory: Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive )

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB Video Card

Side note what is your current pc specs? If your running AMD Phenom series or first gen FX series an intel cpu upgrade can in cpu bound games double your fps with same gpu.

If you could enlarge your budget up to 255$ you'd be enjoying a high end GPU: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr929wf34gd

Budget is pretty tight.

And I don't have a reason for this other than my personal experience with their customer service, but I tend to stick to nVidia. They have been very good with me and I believe this warrants my further business with them. So unless there is a significant increase in performance, I want to stick with nVidia.

Wouldn't go with Nvidia on your budget case, you can't even get GTX770 for your budget limit, the best you can do is 760.

Pretty much this.. If it is out of your budget, wait til it lowers in price and/or you have saved up more money.. Until then a 660 ti will be just fine.

Depending on what you want to buy, with $225 you are budget limited.

GTX660ti is has a little lower performance (5-10%) than a GTX760.

Currently then only GPU you can buy with $225 is a GTX760.

Stay with your current GPU and wait a couple of months or more for a better upgrade.

My first guess is that a GTX960 would be a nice upgrade for this amount of money.

Due to the phenomenal success of GTX970, Nvidia decided not to deliver GTX960 in October in order not to hurt GTX970 sales.

So GTX960 is stated as a 2015Q1 release...

IDK what you're using now but I have a feeling you gonna like 660Ti. I have a non-Ti and it's still doing ok. 970 should be a good upgrade, wait till next year as AMD will release their 300 series and Nvidia should lower the prices a bit.

Pretty much agree with everyone, 7870/660Ti class GPU's are still rocking rather well at 1080p gaming, so unless you got the budget for a higher end GPU, wait.

660ti is still a good card, it'll run anything at 1080p pretty much maxed out, maybe with less AA etc. I'd keep it for a while yet.

I currently have a 660 ti 3Gb model and it's definitely a solid card and I don't plan on upgrading until March or so. The only game you won't be able to play as far as I know is Assassin's Creed Unity with their minimum requirements being a 680. Other than that you'll max out or almost max out most games in 1080P. If you plan on higher resolutions then I would upgrade.
