this is my build : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/wienz/saved/94Lbt6 The mobo green light turns on and fans run only run with no beeps. I ensured all the cables were in place, tried starting with only the cpu and fan (made continuous post beeps), with the cpu, fan and ram, with the cpu, fan, ram and gpu, all to no display. I then researched online and found out I needed to update the bios of the h81 to be compatible with the g3258 so I went to a local pc shop and got that done. Still nothing but the green light and fan. Is the ram, cpu and mobo compatible? Anyone with the expertise willing to help? thanks in advance.

If your gpu has two ports for monitors, try plugging the monitor into the other one.

Did you make sure you connected the PCI-E power cables to the graphic card?

Try putting the ram in another slot. I'd also recommend trying to boot it while it's in the case, it could be shorting itself.

I'd also check if for some reason it's trying to use the onboard card instead of the 750i or if it works without it.

Did you try these without the card in, they're on the motherboard?

@zaku101: yeah ive tried the vga/dsub one ill try the dvi now

edit: dvi doesnt make a difference, im starting to think its my ram, assuming the pc shop was able to update the bios or even cpu. is there any way of testing the either two without trying new parts

Well put it in the case while your doing this stuff, it could be shorting out and failing to boot...

You realize the anti static bag is conductive right? You're shorting the board out by laying it on top of that.

Need another computer to test it all... Most likely you've got one that has at least a PCI-E slot laying around to test the graphic card.

That's to dissipate static, you don't power the board on with it.

Some info on them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imdtXcnywb8

It's all compatible, since you're not getting any display from either GPU or MOBO (I hope you did remove your GPU when testing with VGA cable)

BIOS update is needed but it's not a MUST, I own myself H81 MOBO and i5 4670 and I only did BIOS update after installing OS and everything worked fine

Damaged MOBO or PSU.
