I'm currently running with 2x 24' 1080p monitors... but they are 6 year old budget ones that don't even have backlighting... its all well and good to have a good GPU... but seeing my tv compared to my monitors upsets me! my monitors are so grey...

I noticed this budget 27' monitor getting great reviews:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-089-BQ&groupid=17&catid=1120

However my concern is that it's only 1080p... I'm no monitor expert... so I really don't know what to aim for...

What I want:

1) Vibrant Colours, Strong blacks.... nice and colourful! like my TV.
2) The benchmark game will be Star Citizen, so is 5ms responsive enough?

1440p would lead to a smoother image I understand that part... and I notice games like Star Citizen with its current poor AA offerings benefits from it.... but 1440p is also a strong hit in framerate to? is it worse than having anti aliasing on?

bottom line - good value 1080p 27' or a 1440p and if so what?

cheers!

Yea I like BenQ ... its more about the worthwhileness of 1440p over 1080p? and will I notice too much of a stretch pixelwise on a 27 over a 24' at 1080p? is that monitor I linked a really nice looking one?

once you go 1440, 1080 looks stupid and pixely.

1440 all the way

My linked BenQ is a bit newer module but sure go for it.

As for your question about 1440p vs 1080:

27'-32' is perfect for 1440p.

I moved from a 27" 1080p to 1440p and will never look back. There is a definite difference but the horsepower required is also quite noticeable. You can pretty much turn AA down if not off all together though.

I am curious if anyone has or has seen a 27"-32" 4K monitor and can compare it to 1440p. I'm guessing that the usual monitor sizes are too small to notice that jump. I am starting to look at 4K T.V.'s but I'm not even going to bother with any of those under 75"

I play @ 1080p on a 52" Samsung lcd and I think the picture looks pretty incredible when I max out my games. That said, one of my good friends plays on a 27" 1440p monitor (Asus I think) and let me just say this...it puts my picture to shame. Depending on what game you're playing, things seem to have a greater depth, and "pop" to them @ 1440p. I might have to wait until early to mid next year, but I'll be purchasing a 1440p monitor for myself.

It's absolutely worth going to 1440.

I have 1440p and 1080p monitors, i actually prefer my 1080p one. My PC barely has to work with most games for 1080p and i can't tell the difference in most games. But mind you the 1440p monitor i have isn't a good gaming one cause it has really high input lag compared to my 1080p one. Im pretty disappointed in it actually.
