There is nothing wrong with video game soundtracks, though there are some anime soundtracks that are preferable to them.

Never really been into anime sorry.

I rather like Whisper of the Heart's soundtrack. It's written in a quasi-variation romantic style for piano and horn quintet. The part at 3:15 builds up into a great canon with some great contrapuntal writing. I love the glassy 'halo-y' sound of the violin as it plays in the upper register while the cello plays the theme accompanied by pizzicato (3:35). There's some really nice textures here. It's capped off with a cute coda in which the "country road" theme is played.
