I like deadlifts

I used to dislike it, but that's because I wasn't lifting enough. I was busy getting the correct form down for the first couple of months, and as such I only moved small plates when lifting. Much to my delight, I discovered that deadlifting is a fun exercise, it just requires big ass plates. Few things in life are more rewarding than trying your best not to fart or blackout while you train

I dislike weighted squats

or maybe it's a love/hate-relationship, because I like the exercise in theory, I just dislike performing it. It puts me out of breath fast, it makes me sweat profusely and my legs will be sore for 2 days

Favourite would be punching bag or sparring. Lately I've been enjoying running more too, to my surprise. I like lifting weight just because they tend to be in a big airconditioned room, and lifting doesn't make you sweat like cardio does.

For least favourite... I'd go with any leg workout that isn't just running. My legs are naturally pretty strong, I don't want to make them stronger.

My favorite are push ups. My least favorite are sit ups. Sit ups are completely useless compared to a lot of alternative exercises.

@chaoscougar1: cool :D what's your motivation for training?

i've been training on and off for the past 3 years, but it was very casual. Like perhaps once or twice a week, for 45 minute sessions

I didn't get any gains, and tbh i didn't know wtf i was doing during those years, just jerking around on various isolation machines (because that's what i saw everyone else doing so i figured i was doing it right)

now i work out 6 days a week for the past 3 months, doing mostly compound exercises with free weights. It has already done more for me than the previous 3 years already t_t

@alim298: i agree, situps just seem silly when there are so many exercises already involving your core

Without a doubt, squats. They have the most health benefits out of any exercise with weights of which I am aware.

My least favorite is crunches. I have done so many that I can easily do one thousand, and I am not all that sore the next day after when I do them.

Favorite - pull ups or muscle ups

Least favorite - deadlifts, or back snaps as I call them. I get a full body workout through calisthenics.

Lifting dead weight seems like the only exercise that is a waste of time. I've always preferred to stick mostly to non apparatus. Excessive dead weights will just end up giving you man boobs in the worse possible way.

Favorite: Probably a toss up between military dumbbell press and incline dumbbell bench press. Both of those I can get some serious pumps on and I love it.

Least favorite: Push ups. I hate, hate, hate doing them. I realize their benefits but I just can't get into them.

Favorite: Treadmill, even though I've heard it's bad on the knees I enjoy trying to beat my previous days record.

Least Favorite: Power clean. I lack the explosiveness to do big weights on that one and I feel like a doofus with all that movement.

@BranKetra:i wholeheartedly agree, which is why i refuse to let go of the squats in my routine. I just really have to amp myself up for them first!

@Chozofication: i salute your ability to do muscle-ups bro, most gymrats can't do a single MU in my experience

@korvus: what kinda' martial arts do you practice? I hate going to most gyms as well, people just hang around and i find the overly leisure atmosphere to be demotivating tbh x)

@byof_america: props for even attempting power cleans with heavy weights, i don't trust my CNS enough for that just yet

I like running, unfortunately have had a bit of a knee injury that's made me lay off running a bit.

Never been a fan of ab workouts.

My sport when I was younger was amateur boxing. I grew to love exercises like pushups, pull ups, jumping rope, running, etc. I really don't like leg exercises.

@BiancaDK: I start with a few warmup sets only using the barbell then I gradually increase the weight. It is not too shocking for my muscles and nervous system that way.

I constantly have a love/hate with running. I do it at least 3 times a week, but motivating myself is hard, and the first 5 minutes of a run sucks. But when I get into the groove its bliss.

I love exercises that I can't do, because I like to challenge and improve. Right now pull ups and squats give me the most trouble so I'm working on those a lot.

@korvus: i have a deeply embedded love for TKD as well. I never attended the graduations, just the sparring and technical sessions for 4 years. I've trained other martial arts, but the single most destructive skill i've ever learned came from TKD (the dwit chagi)

people in other martial art circles think TKD is all show. Dwit chagi teaches them differently >:3

@BiancaDK: I agree. I would definitely not use TKD for an extended self-defense fight but a fight should never be long and TKD has some devastating kicks. An explosive front kick to the throat (or chin if you don't want to risk killing someone) or a thrust kick to the solar plexus (first time I actually used it I was quite shocked how far you can send people with it) should end most fights before they have time to react. In my experience, nobody expects a kick coming out of nowhere when you still have your hands in your pockets =P

If you're unlucky and you either miss (shame on you!) or the other person is good enough to dodge it (they probably didn't have time to grab you, thankfully) I'd just go street fight. Don't need to start getting fancy and ending up getting my knees busted by a grapple.

Love barbell curves.

I always skip leg day. Don't do anything for my stomach either.

@korvus:heh, i completely agree with the approach you described. TKD power blitz moves really caters to the initial theory of street fight (as in great openers that carry a high potential for closing it as well).

@themajormayor: today was my leg day and i just sat on my fat ass /brofists

Pretty decent tolerance for weight lifting, sore muscles don't bother me too much.

Having a high hart rate, panting is something i don't like, so basically cardio.
